Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
He wasn't going over from the uppercut then decided to go down from the arm punch and seemed to milk it a bit on the canvas. I've watched a few replays now and that's the way I'm seeing it.

It wouldn't surprise me, as I think he clearly wanted out by that point. In particular, his body language upon rising from the first knockdown suggests to me that he was looking for the ref to stop it without having to admit that he'd had enough.

Yep, just like Malik Scott vs Wilder and Martin vs AJ he was looking for a way out.

Yeah, but I'm not buying it. He was defo play acting when he "went down". He just didn't want it.handsofstone wrote:Never heard of a delayed reaction? Not that there was much of one here mind, uppercut put him down, not a dive from the right hand

Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
I agree he didnt want no more part of it,he was pratically begging the ref to stop it,i dont know what the point of asking someone 5 or so times if they wanna continiue if they dont answer 1st time of asking, still theres a difference from wanting out and taking a diveThe Insider wrote:Yeah, but I'm not buying it. Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
Golovkin landed a good jab on the chin followed up by a left uppercut that stunned him and threw him off balance, the right landed on his shoulder and knocked him to the ground. Now, you have to factor in Wade making $500,000 for this fight which is far more than he's ever made, he's prob never even made $100,000 before this fight. So this may have also factored in but make no mistake, he was legitimately hurt on each knockdown.

He felt that power and decided to call it a night.
Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
he gave his best and was outclassed, no
need to find something to smear over him.
glolovkin seemed to hit twice as hard.

Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
He could see even after round 1 he was shell shocked at how hard GGG bangs. In the corner he really looked like he knew he was out of his depth
Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
I wouldn't go so far as to say he took a dive, but he made sure to crawl around on the canvas that he'd hear the 10 count. You could see on his face after the first knockdown in Round 2. He was terrified, and just wanted to get the hell out of there. Happens to a lot of guys when they're fighting the monster that is GGG.
Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
What's the point of getting up twice and continuing to take flush punches to the face if you're planning to take a dive? He was too young and inexperienced and was outclassed plain and simple.
Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
..whatever you call it, he wanted out and I don't blame him..
Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
Ya, he was actually fairly lively at times during the first, but when the knockdown punch landed near the end of the round you could see he was thinking 'oh shitt, so that's what it feels like'.reggaereggae wrote:He could see even after round 1 he was shell shocked at how hard GGG bangs. Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
There's a HUGE difference between taking a dive and quitting because you don't want anymore. A fighter can quit any time he wants to. A dive is when you've been paid to purposefully lose a fight.
Wade felt GGG's power and decided he did not want to feel it anymore. GGG proved what we already knew; he's much much much better than Wade.

Golovkin did hit Wade after he was already stunned by the uppercut, and that second punch was strong enough to drop already wobbled Dominic.

A dive? That could only be someone who has never been sucker punched. Heavy hands alter reality.

Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
No the man was hurt and was way way way way in over his head
Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
Yeah, you are right, he didn't take a dive, per se, he did want out and fair enough I guess. Credit where it's due, too, Wade had the balls to jump in with Golovkin and he was willing up until he got dropped.punchoutsb wrote:There's a HUGE difference between taking a dive and quitting because you don't want anymore. Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
He was hurt and realised he didn't fancy taking anymore of GGG power shots.
Definetly not a dive though.

Re: Did Wade take a dive in knockdown 2?
I was there and to me it looked like he was trying to get up once again. More importantly it looked that way to his corner and Sam Watson who were at the ropes towel in hand in case he did. People were worried that he was hurt bad and that he was going to be too tough for his own good. He may have been outclassed as a fighter, but in no way did he "take a dive" or even take the easy way out. He was trying to get up. He had got up from the previous knockdown by crawling into some momentum and it certainly looked like he was doing the same thing here.
