Would Andre Ward sell out the LA Forum like GGG has?
Gennady Golovkin's fight on Saturday against Dominic Wade sold out the Los Angeles forum.
GGG's previous fight in LA was also a sell out.
Would Californian Andre Ward sell out the LA forum, or do fans in LA prefer to see an exciting fighter regardless of where he's from?

Max made a good point: Gennady's has reached a point were people come to see him regardless the fight is competitive or not.
Nobody asked for their money back, saturday.

No way Ward would sell out the Forum, Staples, MSG or anywhere outside his hometown of Oakland. His style is just too boring.
GGG would sell out MANY arenas in the US. Smartest thing Golovkin ever did was leave Germany and relocate to US.
GGG's style is one of the most crowd-pleasing in recent boxing history.
That being said, if the two ever fight, Ward wins an ugly but clearcut decision!!! SCOREBOARD!!

Unfortunately for GGG, Gennady would NOT be the winner in that one.ikorolev wrote:Only against Golovkin

In the words of Floyd Mayweather Jr "Andre Ward couldn't sell a ticket to his mother".
Years of inactivity and garbage come-back opponents has put Ward's career in the shitter.

True. Waste of a great talent. He couldn't sell out a phone box!Ricky_ wrote:In the words of Floyd Mayweather Jr "Andre Ward couldn't sell a ticket to his mother".

Ward's not an entertaining fighter. Add to that a complete lack of charisma and no hype, and you've got someone entirely reliant on his opponent to 'sell' a fight. The answer is no.

Against the right opponent, sure

I am not sure GGG-Wade would sell out the forum on its own without Roman Gonzalez. Pure mismatch on paper. Undercard plays a big role with any US card these days, the average fan is way more educated than in the past.

Did you hear how loud that place was when GGG got the knockdowns and ultimately, the KO? This GGGmania has now hit Tyson like heights where fans are now paying to see the KO and they don't care if it comes in five seconds or 11 rounds. No one is mad about the early KO. This is magical.

GGG is close to becoming a star, and he's done it the best way, by providing people with entertaining fights, and destroying everyone put in front of him.
Eventually people and networks are going to take notice.
He just needs to keep busy, and eventually he's going to get that major fight.

Ward wouldn't sell out a bingo hall.

Don't think Ward knows there are arenas outside of Oakland.
He only sells out a LA arena against a top level opponent. Kovalev or Stevenson.
Fonfara sells well in Chicago and maybe New York.

If he was fighting Kovalev maybe. If he was fighting another guy like Sullivan Barrera, no.
