In 21st Century England if you are born in England & consider yourself English then you ARE English - no matter what anyone else says.
But as long as you're nice to everyone who cares where you are from
I appreciate you started this as a piss take of the Joshua thread.
But the fact the Joshua thread existed to be mocked in the first place and many of the opinions discussed on either thread is an embarrassment to this forum.
The subject should not even be up for debate. People passing opinion on this shit as if their view actually has a bearing on anything at all. And as for the borderline (and some not so borderline) racist comments made I'm astounded these threads have not been pulled.
They're fornicating ridiculous.

I'd say some people consider themselves English until it suits them haroon Khan prime example
Why can't he have more than one identity? It isn't illegal to have more than one identity.
Precisely. It's not an either or. You can identify with both the country of your birth, and where you grew up, and also the background of your family. What's the big deal with that?

If science is to be believed every human on the planet is 100% genetically African.
We live in a land, latterly nation, that has been a destination for invaders, colonists and immigrants for more than 2 millennia.
Just because some of the more recent arrivals are sporting a slighter darker shade of skin doesn't make them any more or less English than Normans, Vikings or Celts.
Maybe an 'ethnically English' race did exist once upon a time, but in the year 2016 we English are a smorgasbord of ethnicities and cultural influences.
In the age of multiculturalism and constantly shifting populations it's not unusual to find people who identify with multiple nationalities, cultures and/or ethnicities.
Hmmm, let's also not forget that ethnicity is only an incredibly small part of the genome - not that it really works like that anyway.
To say someone is '100% genetically Nigerian' is a bit daft.

Yep, considering that people have been moving throughout the African continent for the last 100,000 years at , it's not very likely.
