Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
How much lower can this guy sink?
I thought Bellew-Clev 2 was as low as he could get but he made that look like the Rumble in the Jungle by the time he rolled out Brook vs Frankie Gavin.
Joshua vs Whyte was a decent dust-up but it was a fornicating domestic-level scrap, by comparison Fury vs Chisora 1 was free on ch 5 when both were of similar level. Joshua vs Breazeale is proper garbage.
How little buys do they need for this to make a loss? I recall Sky punting Khan's PPV vs McCloskey because it had only sold 50 units.
Seriously hope it's an absolute flop numbers wise & Breazeale bingo-punches Joshua's chin into the first row, right on to sleazy Ed's lap.

Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
Interesting though as what is the difference in terms of PPV for sky as opposed to non ppv? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but is it the fact Sky will pay more to the promoter who in turn essentially pays his fighters more allowing him to pay for better fights to happen? The cost of putting on a show are no different to the O2 shows that they cover that are not PPV, they only do a couple extra face2face programemes and behind the ropes stuff that is different...

Unfortunately it will probably sell well. Moron casuals wont look further than Brezeales record and believe hes a good opponent. Im not even bothering. Seeing a world champ KO a bum in 2 rounds isnt entertainment.
If it wasnt for Russell Jr defending against Hyland who was ranked 130 id put this as the worst defence of the year.

I always say this, but Joshua is such a ridiculous cash-cow for Matchroom, Hearn would be insane not to put him on PPV every time he's out. It's annoying, but totally understandable from a business perspective.

Think about it: Khan-Prescott, Earl, McCloskey were all PPV....and needs a sky subscription and a minimum 12 month contract before you can buy it.
Canelo-Khan is just the price of a monthly subscription to allegedly which can be cancelled after 1 month.
I don't even blame Eddie - it's SKY that should be blamed.

Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
True. Hearn is essentially the middle man. Sky seem to dodge a lot of the blame. That fuckin cock weasel Barney Francis and his evil side kick Adam Smith have a lot to answer for. Pair of sweaty balls.reggaereggae wrote:Think about it: Khan-Prescott, Earl, McCloskey were all PPV....and needs a sky subscription and a minimum 12 month contract before you can buy it.

Think people who subscribe for the Khan fight will probably hang on for the Fury fight saves paying the £8 fee again. good opurtunity for allegedly to line up a few more fights and keep people in and the more people they keep hopefully the better quality fights will keep comingreggaereggae wrote:Think about it: Khan-Prescott, Earl, McCloskey were all PPV....and needs a sky subscription and a minimum 12 month contract before you can buy it.

Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
it won't end. this is just what you get when the number of casual fans far outweigh the number of real boxing fans that can see through how backward and divvy this all is.
casuals who aren't clued up will continue buying into it and from a business level this is why eddie hearn keeps doing it. why appeal to hardcore boxing fans when you've got a load of divs that will believe all they are spoonfed?

What you wouldn't pay for Canelo v Khan - I would. Potentially great fight on paper.Rexob wrote:Only joking.
Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
It's still very cheap to buy a PPV in comparison with our American counterparts.
However, those whom only subscribe to the monthly £27 a month sky sports channel, need to take a view on spending circa £300 per annum extra for the odd non-PPV show, or cancel and put the money in the bank then just buy boxing cards on a piece meal basis.
Whilst the boxers and promoters have come up trumps on PPV, Sky themselves have really shot themselves in the foot as I know absolutely dozens of pure boxing fans whom have gone from happily handing over £27 a month, to just £16.95 every other month or three instead.
It's like dropping a five pound note to pick up a £2 coin.
(except previously £4.99 of that fiver went to football, and now the whole £2 coin goes to boxing, if that makes sense? )

I cancelled sky yonks ago, and despite Virgin trying to tempt me to get back on the pony and get sky sports, I've spurned their advances ever since.G0mez wrote:It's still very cheap to buy a PPV in comparison with our American counterparts.

Most of the really worthwhile content is PPV anyway, so why bother subscribing. I'm not a big footie fan, and the rest of their sports output doesn't interest me.

I mean, BN is cracking value, far, FAR better than Sky, but let's not pretend it's 'free' at all.

Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
I know what you mean. I've been a subscriber that long I see it as 'free boxing' when it's really not. Good value though. If I'm nightshift and get home early or can't sleep there's always something to watch. If Canelo Khan and Fury Wlad were on Sky that's nearly an extra 40 bucks we'd have to fork out guaranteed.jamesmcdonnell wrote:It is if I am paying a subscription anyway.MarkMcBurney wrote:If it's on BN, it aint free.jamesmcdonnell wrote:

Joshua is now a ppv fighter. He's Eddies little golden goose and he could be fighting me on my front green and it would be on box office.
That's the sad reality of it and if it sells well and continues to dupe the casuals, not only will he continue to stick these fights on ppv, he may be more inclined to keep on lining up bums for AJ.
He'll play us the tune that he's chasing the big names but there'll be "difficulties" getting it made and throw more custom made nobodies at his prize pony
Then again, I said the same of Wilder and he went and proved me wrong when he signed to travel to Russia.
Maybe we'll see Joshua vs Fury in September after all.

I get the impression Joshua is ambitious, and wants all the baubles, if so, eventually the big fights are going to come.
Even the casuals eventually lose interest in watching someone bowl over useless opponents.
Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
Do you not think it's more likely he'll fight Haye before any Fury fight? The two of them seem to be bigging each other up a lot in the media. I think Hayes all wrong for him just now. Ideally I'd like to see Povetkin whip Wilder then fight Haye and AJ v Fury (providing he beats Wlad) but something's telling me it'll be AJ Haye before the end of the year with Parker or Takam being paid to step aside.davie wrote:Joshua is now a ppv fighter. Haye would have a shot at winning, but if he got clobbered, doubt he'd survive, could be a right old tearup whilst it lasted, or we might see Haye do what he did against wlad.
