Could be a case of who landed first. Would like to think Hayes learned from that night and I doubt AJ is anywhere near as good defensively as Wlad on his game. You're right though could be a right tear up. If Haye had AJ going like Whyte did he wouldn't let him off the hook.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Possible.Stuarty30 wrote:Do you not think it's more likely he'll fight Haye before any Fury fight? Ideally I'd like to see Povetkin whip Wilder then fight Haye and AJ v Fury (providing he beats Wlad) but something's telling me it'll be AJ Haye before the end of the year with Parker or Takam being paid to step aside.davie wrote:Joshua is now a ppv fighter. That's the sad reality of it and if it sells well and continues to dupe the casuals, not only will he continue to stick these fights on ppv, he may be more inclined to keep on lining up bums for AJ.
He'll play us the tune that he's chasing the big names but there'll be "difficulties" getting it made and throw more custom made nobodies at his prize pony
Then again, I said the same of Wilder and he went and proved me wrong when he signed to travel to Russia.
Maybe we'll see Joshua vs Fury in September after all.
Haye would have a shot at winning, but if he got clobbered, doubt he'd survive, could be a right old tearup whilst it lasted, or we might see Haye do what he did against wlad.

Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
I think the truth is, Haye generally doesn't fancy his chances much against men a lot bigger than him, he fought the same way against Valuev and Wlad, ultra cautious - Valuev was so slow Haye was able to nick the fight in an absolute stinker, Wlad was too adept at maintaining distance for Haye to get close.Stuarty30 wrote:Could be a case of who landed first. I would love to see Haye vs Joshua in an up and down battle.

Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
It really isn't Eddie fault or choice to put so much on ppv.
It's the EU and football.
The EU decided that the Sky Monopoly on football and sport in general was unlawful and opened it all up. In essence this meant that BT were able to get into the mix and buy Saturday lunchtime and teatime premier league games and all Champion League games (which Sky had shared with ITV)
The loss of these resulted in a huge loss of revenue. In order for Sky to survive and continue making their own TV shows etc they had to get that lost revenue back somehow.
PPV in boxing had been around for ages. I don't know the exact figures but we used to pay out for big fights maybe once or twice a year. That indicated to the accountants that there was a thirst for ppv boxing.
The timings of the loss of uefa football and those premier league games roughly coincided with Matchroom's exclusive deal with Sky.
Eddie is told that he WILL provide regular ppv events. Eddie knows that in reality there are only one or two ppv worthy fights per year. He doesn't want to put some of the drab ppv events onto ppv but needs to fulfill his contract (which is of course lucrative, so here lies the blame that can be apportioned to him) but he does indeed put them on ppv.
He knows that often the main event is nowhere near the quality for ppv so he starts saving up any half decent bouts he can make to provide "stacked" Undercard of better quality to try to justify the ppv price.
The knock on effect is that this reduces the quality of the non ppv "fight night" events, which would normally feature more competitive bouts.
On a different subject the cost of broadcasting live events via satellite has also massively increased in recent years. Hence allegedly are showing less and trying to keep us happy with good quality shows from the states. Personally I'd be happy with delayed broadcasts from the York Hall or wherever. Show them on a Tuesday/Wednesday night like we used to get with Sportsnight and Midweek Sport Special. It's a fraction of the cost of a live broadcast to just film a show.
If we exit the EU it may help....but I feel we've set the precedent and accepted it. Previous posters are right. The only way to stop it is to not pay....but we will.
So, it isn't Eddies or Adam's fault on this one.

Murray-Groves just about makes this PPV worthy in Matchroom terms.
I'm tempted to cancel sky sports and just pick up the PPV.

got to be a plan , is there anything worth watching on "normal" Sky nowadays anyway ?PredatorHayds wrote:Murray-Groves just about makes this PPV worthy in Matchroom terms.

No it isn't he is placing short term gain over any long term gain. He is removing boxing from the grasp of the majority of the population thus making it harder for him to sell stars in the future.

I cancelled Sky sports about 6 months ago and I haven't sat gutted about missing anything they have shown in that time. I aint subsidising premier league player's wages for them to feed me some piss poor card of boxing once every 6 weeks.
Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
Don't forget that Joshua himself is now used to those PPV pay-packets, doubt he'd want to go back to "normal" Saturday Fight Night purses. Hearn has to keep him happy, there isn't a promoter out there who wouldn't want to sign him. Even allegedly is always careful not to slag AJ off - hope springs eternal.

Since when did boxing promoters ever give a toss about the long term?Supremo wrote:Boxerbeetle wrote:I always say this, but Joshua is such a ridiculous cash-cow for Matchroom, Hearn would be insane not to put him on PPV every time he's out. Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
I doubt Anthony actually knows that much about boxing belts and politics. He's money and fame hungry and understands that if he keeps banging people out he'll get both but I'd be staggered if he could name twenty former heavyweight belt holders.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I get the impression Joshua is ambitious, and wants all the baubles...
Re: Fast Eddie's Pay-Per-Views
There is some sort of consolation. SKY are losing big time. With BT covering all Champions league and Europa League and the F A cup you know how hurtful it is when their presenters are told not to mention Man City or Liverpool's success in Europe and the fact that Man Utd and Crystal Pal are in the Cup Final. I enjoy how they're suffering financially and the knowledge that the PL rights will be up for grabs again soon.
My little input is to simply refuse to buy PPV under any circumstances. I hate exploitation and sheer greed at all levels. And can I add to previous comments, Breazeale IS a bum. He's not even good enough to be Hughie Fury's sparring partner.

Fvck SKY - do you remember when ringside and other Sky programmes would only talk about Sky fighters and nothing else?dalcumly wrote:There is some sort of consolation. SKY are losing big time. I remember a press conference after Sir Alex retired launching his new book.
That square headed jobsworth "swanson" the supposed SSNews chief reporter they roll out for the serious stuff asked SAF a question... that was 3 questions jampacked in to 1. Sir Alex replied "Three questions!? Typical Sky. Greedy."
I seriously hope BT puts them out of business. Before cancelling i had SkyGO hooked up to a playstation console. They then changed the terms that to use the service with a console you needed a premium version of SkyGo.
They charge the same subscription prices despite losing most their games and CL to BT. "Believe in better" when less sport content is available and the price stays the same or goes up.
Their efforts to subsides football losses with boxing payperviews while ditching Ringside shows the contempt they have for boxing fans. It's not the answer though, i bet their revenue is dropping like a stone.
