Difference between Khan and Chavez is the extensive amateur career - plus Khan looks a lot more mature than Chavez - I think Chavez is a slow burner.
The guy who Chavez drew with is a very decent fighter.
Although I agree, Khan shouldn't have any critics yet - neither should Chavez.

i am one of JCC jr's biggest critics...i believe bob arum is milking daddy's name to sucker a boxing-hungry mexican audience which fanatically worshipped julio sr for many years...i live on the usa/mexican border & many of my mexican boxing buddies agree!!the guy he drew with was an 8-1 mexican american from chicago & the 100% mexican audience in monterrey cheered loudly when molina's hand was raised & booed loudly when junior's hand was raised! not to worry, slickster arum has arranged a rematch in arum-friendly nevada where he does most of his business & i personally expect molina to need a KO to emerge victorious!! it's on the undercard of ridiculous margarito-gomez PPV (an espn-caliber fight), which is proof how much arum loves scamming mexican fans!!
i expect after "avenging" the draw, arum will have junior back in with TOTAL SCRUBS for awhile, have him headlining HIS OWN PPV cards by late 2006 & into a world title fight by sometime in 2007...after he gets KOd arum will drop him while laughing all the way to the bank!! king gets most of the bad press, but arum is just as bad or worse!!!
Seen the Molina fight, it was very close - Haven't actually scored it round by round but I thought a draw was probably a fair reflection. I would like to see it maybe as a 10 rounder next time - cause no-one had taken a significant control of the fight last time.
I'm not saying your entirely wrong in your criticisms, but lets see how he progresses and take into account his lack of amateur experience - perhaps he shouldn't be on tv and being hyped as is he is yet - but then if you did that with everyone, we no prospects will make TV.

vegas bookmakers NEVER lay odds on 6 round fights!! this was all about JCC jr's revenge--the arum hype machine marches on!!!

Thats an excellent way to develop khan but casual fans want to see knockouts and right now khan is a certain somebodys cash cow so he's got to get a balance between getting khan experience and keeping the general public happy.nickd wrote:In that case put him in with bigger guys not smaller. This fight is a joke, Khan won an Olmypic silver medal and is fighting guys who are far worse than the guys he beat in the amatures. Any fighter with his credentials should be stepping up far quicker than other fighters. Kostya Tszyu fought Juan LaPorte in his 4th fight ,Jeff Fenech fought Coffee 26-0 in his tenth fight.
Tszyu was a gold medallist, was 23 when he made his pro debut, and was making a career in a new country.
Fenech also had a top, top amateur career and was fighting in the low weights, with fewer fighters of world class. Plus Coffee wasn't exactly stellar. His record had more padding than a eunuch's codpiece.
Fundamentally, I agree that Khan should have stayed amateur. But realistically he's not done so and Warren's not going to stick him in with Kindelan-level fighters every fortnight.
Khan's going to get some major league exposure soon enough anyway, with a significant backer using him extensively, so his sponsors will be watching his career with interest. They won't want him losing but they won't want him stalling either. Plus he's up for a big payday if he can land the British title.
