To give you a point of reference - have you seen Shaq vs De La Hoya or Mosley? This is a 7'1", 335lb former athlete who is in good shape and has undergone boxing training against a couple of former world champion light middleweights and he lost both fights. Throw an average heavyweight sized guy in the ring instead of Shaq and they get knocked out.asdfjkl wrote:Yea, sorry, but why on earth would someone look at a fight knowing he can beat the winner easely himself?Stuarty30 wrote:oh dearasdfjkl wrote: Out of all those, I only know James Toney actually

Exactly. I'm 6'4 and 16 stone. Former amatuer although I haven't fought since I was 20/21. I'm 32 and in ok shape and I wouldn't fancy tackling today's version of any of the two mentioned. I'd rather take on big Shaq lol. I think the guy is a fantasist to be honest. By his logic he could beat Sergey Kovalev in a street fight because he is bigger than him. Well, sorry, but I can't take that fight serious, I haven't seen it before, but I think Olivier Richters for example would have won easely if he tried.Stuarty30 wrote:Exactly. I'm 6'4 and 16 stone. Again, I'm not taking sides but Shaq is an athletic BIG man, which is night and day different from an athletic heavyweight. There's a reason there's been one 7+ heavyweight champion. Bodies that big are not built for fighting.jezzamundo wrote:To give you a point of reference - have you seen Shaq vs De La Hoya or Mosley? Also, Mosley and Oscar were both probably 160+ for the "fights" with Shaq (and Mosley only beat Shaq by a point if I recall...), which is also night and day different from a 5'3 112 pound flyweight.
I'm not saying the rando posting in this thread could beat a flyweight champion, but I am saying there are weight classes for a reason and a street fight is totally different than a sporting contest.

Nothing I disagree with here. In fact I would expect an unathletic heavyweight to knock both Oscar and Shane out, the point I was making is that a big guy who isn't a trained boxer will lose in a boxing contest against a smaller, champion boxer. Shaq's huge size advantage clearly made a difference as both fights were competitive.punchoutsb wrote:Again, I'm not taking sides but Shaq is an athletic BIG man, which is night and day different from an athletic heavyweight. TBH I think even Shaq could do it if it actually mattered. In this fight he doesn't look like taking it that serious. It seems more like another variation of a match like the one between between big show and Mayweather.jezzamundo wrote:Nothing I disagree with here.
