Two of those are within walking distance, one is a 20 minute drive or train ride away. I don't have anything more than a passing worry about crime or personal security here, although I grew up in Plymouth, where that was very different.

There's work here, and the pace if life is slower. People still chat to strangers. A thriving local live music scene, and all the mod-cons that technology has brought. Takes a while to get anywhere, but once you've visited the frozen, icy tundra of The North (y'know, Portsmouth, Brighton, That London...) why would you want to leave the Westcountry?

Meanwhile, all the worker drones slave away up the line, and send us their income tax - as well as spending their holiday money here. Cheers, emmets!

Happily, unbeknownst to them, Sean was a serious martial artist (I didn't even know before this incident) - he'd studied his final dans in Tae-Twan-Do in Korea - and proceeded to kick unholy crap out of 4 of them, (after the required warning) - breaking one's jaw, shattering the ribs of another, and knocking two of them unconscious, the 5th one legged it. He got arrested but not charged as he was outnumbered 5-1 during the altercation, and there was racial provocation, and gave them fair warning of the can of whup-ass he was about to open on them.
