Some people are saying Ward vs. Shabranskyy is in negotiations right now.

I think this would be an interesting matchup, Shabranskyy is somewhat better than Barrera.

If Ward is really planning to fight Kovalev in November and he wants to fight a decent LHW before that, then he needs to sign soon. Otherwise, he will have to drag a SMW up again, as a LHW will not have time to cut weight.
