Next Big Pod / Boxing Asylum

Post by johnswan1 »

Anybody listen to either of these podcasts, and do any of the hosts post on here?

I've just discovered them recently, having previously only listened to the Next Round and Buncey's.

I have downloaded Asylum but have not listened to it yet. What I haven't worked out is whether they are linked or not. Can anybody here shed some light on it? They often mention Asylum on Next Big Pod.

As for the Next Big Pod, it's got probably five people on at a time and runs for a couple of hours once or twice a week. I've listened to it for the last few weeks. There's a fat Scottish guy who thinks he's a celeb and gives his opinion on fights he hasn't watched, a suicidal Northener who is funny but always miserable and a posh boy Shep who I presume is from North London and is actually a very good host. It mostly revolves around complaining about Eddie Hearn which often goes on and on, but there was a cracking one a few weeks back with Charles Farrell on it who told some brilliant stories.

Been listening to Asylum for a long time, since about number 70 and they are now on 165 I think. Ditto Next Big Pod

Are they connected? Alex Morris is on both and despite the slating of each others podcast, I assume they are mates really.

Only listened to the Asylum, which I like. I think the host (Andy?) does a good job keeping things flowing and keeping guests/co-hosts in check. The quality of the recording isn't the best, but like many pods they're probably working around jobs and life etc, so it can be forgiven. What I like most is their openness and honesty. It's not all moaning either.

Never bothered with NBP but can't imagine it's much better.

I don't think they're linked, but there appears to be a rather dull "rivalry" of sorts across social media, which is the only negative.
