They've both been stopped once, Groves by Froch (a supposed power puncher), Periban by DeGale. A DeGale that didn't stop Groves when they met. Froch isn't a power puncher. DeGale didn't go for the KO against Groves it was a chess match.
Now DeGale has stepped up in level (Dirrell and Bute) he is 0 for 2 in terms of kos.
I believe Groves is on the same level as Bute and Dirrell so I have no reason to believe DeGale would ko him either...
I came to that because Groves has been rocked plenty of times including in the ams with head gear, while all the times I have seen Periban he has looked a typical tough Mexican.
Do you really think Groves would have got up from the punch DeGale dropped Dirrell with? what do you mean "I believe Groves is on the same level as Bute and Dirrell"? Are you talking skill wise? Or as in durability?
I mean, I believe Groves of equal skill to both Dirrell and Bute. If they were to be matched up they would be 50/50 fights.
"Do you really think Groves would have got up from the punch DeGale dropped Dirrell with?"
Do you think DeGale would have got up from the punch Groves dropped Froch with?
Its hypothetical.
Facts are they went the distance once. DeGale hasn't stopped anybody since he has moved up in level from Periban, I believe Groves is a level above Periban (as do all the governing bodies) so I would edge towards DeGale not stopping him either...
I never said Periban is on the same skill level as Groves, you keep making the same mistake, I said he's not as durable. For instance Amir Khan is more skilful then Brandon Rios but Rios is tougher and has a better chin.

It's not hypothetical when there is clear evidence that Groves doesn't take a punch well, Groves would have got knocked out had he taken the shot Dirrell got dropped by.

Groves doesn't stand a chance, Degale has come a long way, you have to respect the guy going to the states again and again and doing the business.

To say Periban is more durable when he has been stopped the same amount of times as Groves is just daft.
You keep making the same mistake of mentioning one punch DeGale landed on Dirrell as if its guaranteed he will land it on Groves, again a daft hypothetical argument.

Groves has gone "to the states" 3 times so far in his career.
I doubt he would be scared to go to the states to face Medina either, he just doesn't have to, Hearn is throwing money and opponents at him at home in the UK on PPV...

Thats fair enough, as long as you arent basing your whole argument on DeGale getting his passport stamped a few more times than Groves recently, that would be a silly argument to make roy...

Your sounding like a casual by just looking at a record and saying oh he's only been stopped once he must be as durable as another guy who has been stopped once. You think because a boxer is skilful he must be more durable then a boxer with less skill, it just doesn't make sense. I even showed you a comparison (Khan-Rios) but you clearly didn't get it.

If you cant see that Groves is more vulnerable when taking a punch compared to Periban then there's no help for you. I know you love a poll so why not start one and see who people think is more durable....

Honestly think DeGale would take GG apart if they fought again. I had him edging their first fight. Totally different ball game now though.

What is casual is watching a highlight of one of DeGales fights, seeing him land one nice clean punch and assuming it is now his WWE-style finishing move.

Froch hits harder. DeGale IMO would probably throw more and land more. I don't think DeGale would take GG out with one shot like Froch did it would probably be an accumulation of shots that done the job. Every chance it could go the distance but I'd fancy DeGale to get the stoppage this time. Let's hope it happens and we find out.

Well put.
Hopefully Groves can pick up the WBA Title after Murray and the fight can be made after that.
Negotiations wont be easy if Degale goes on to beat Jack after Medina and brings the IBF and WBC to the table with him...

Froch and Degale probably carry similar power but it is the difference in styles that makes them difficult to compare, Froch broke Bute down with a relentless pressure that Degale would be unable/unwilling to exert.
But Regale hurt Dirrell early in their fight using a sweeping right hand that Froch would be too slow to land himself, however Degale let Dirrell off the hook in a way that Froch wouldnt have. Yet Degale won his fight with Dirrell by a wider margin than Froch did IMO.

As for Degale vs Groves, I still see it as a 50/50. Groves biggest problem, for me, is his stamina.
He tends to look physically and mentally drained late on in tough fights, but Degale takes a few rounds off in fights himself so isn't one to take advantage of this weakness. Both men have the power to hurt each other though.

HAHA i'm sorry but your really embarrassing yourself here, I don't think you know what durable means. Here is what it means from the oxford dictionary "informal (Of a person) having endurance" Now everyone knows Groves has stamina problems (well everyone apart from you clearly). It also says "Able to withstand wear, pressure, or damage; hard-wearing:" now are you telling me Groves can withstand pressure? He clearly doesn't take a punch well so he cant withstand wear and damage. Now please tell me what you think it means and how Groves is durable because the fact is he's had 3 fights at world level and lost them all getting stopped twice and dropped in the other, how do you like them facts?.

Look its clear you are a Groves fan but get real he's the opposite of durable, I'd stop digging that hole if I were you.

the question Did you just come across the word durable? was sarcastic (lowest form of wit i know) due to your apparent love of the new found word.
Yes I am a Groves fan and you quite clearly are a DeGale fan/Groves hater.
Yes Groves has stamina problems, but he doesn't quit when his gas tank is running low. FACT
Yes Groves has been dropped, but he has gotten back up and fought on. FACT
Groves has only been stopped by one man Carl Froch ("Froch isn't a power puncher" apparently). 26 fights, stopped 2 times.
Apparently Groves has no durability yet took your hero James DeGale 12 rounds. FACT.
Again, the fight more than likely goes the distance and its a close decision victory either way...

Apparently Groves has no durability yet took your hero James DeGale 12 rounds. FACT. I told you already DeGale fought too causiously in their first fight and i'm sure he will change tactics if they fought again, look how they've both progressed since that fight...
Again, the fight more than likely goes the distance and its a close decision victory either way... I don't think that's the consensus at all most people think DeGale wins by stoppage or a clear points win, your the only one picking Groves.

I don't think that's the consensus at all most people think DeGale wins by stoppage or a clear points win, your the only one picking Groves.
yawn
Kenny Anderson dropped Groves (before Groves came back and stopped Anderson) before he met DeGale the first time and DeGale didn't drop him.
DeGale is trained by the same man who trained him for the first fight. Why would this fight and the gameplan suddenly be majorly different?
They have both progressed since, so I don't think it would.
Fight goes the distance, close decision either way.
Get this fight on asap...

DeGale is a tit but whatever works for him.
I'm just looking forward to the Groves rematch so Groves can beat him again...
In all seriousness i used to get irked by DeGale too but since the loss to Groves, ive kind of took to him,he seems to be on the correct side of confident/arrogant these days and ive got massive respect for what he did against Dirrell to become world champ,i actually quite like him
I like Degale and I like Groves too. And I like Khan and Fury. (I suspect Khan cops the most haters out of that lot). I’ll lick any sonofabitch that wants a square go over it.
Does that sonafabitch have to be born from it`s Mother ? Or are you including test-tube wannabe hard-men too

DeGale tried playing the bad man in the Groves fight. He played it badly, it doesn't suit him at all.
In any rematch, I think he beats Groves comprehensively.
