Wat a great effort against a top quality lad in Liam Walsh. Walsh looked massive on the night. But bar one body shot troy took everything Walsh threw and tried to counter back. Hope after a good rest and Walsh moves on troy can get himself back in the mix in a division that is wide open domestically. B interesting to see who gets the voluntary shot as Walsh wants British outright.

Also big shout out to @Boxingcutman. Thought u were spot on in the corner and perfect timing with the towel. U can be proud of troy his one tough kid.

Well done to James who put up a very brave show, but Liam Walsh another top performance. Looked to be well in control the whole way. He's definately worth a pop at world level.

Credit to Troy who made a good account of himself but I felt that I could see early on in the fight that Walsh was setting the pace and grinding away at him. Troy was brave and game but was putting a lot into every round whilst Walsh boxed well and fought with a good patient style, definitely agree he should be tested at world level.

He was in fantastic shape. He can be proud of his efforts and he could still get that British belt in the future. Unfortunately for him he was up against a guy that is a level beyond British or even European titles. If he sticks in he will get another crack and it won't be as difficult.

Gutsy performance from James but Liam is levels above& IMO would beat Stephen Smith at Super Feather(but that fight won't happen) I'd back him to beat Flanagan up at lightweight aswell..

One more defence of the British to win it outright, then a world title eliminator looks to be the plan.

Would like to see Andy Townend get the shot, he's worked hard for it and is always dangerous. Maybe he'd be better waiting it out and trying to get a shot at the vacant title at the end of the year though.

Anthony Cacace? Unbeaten, big lad at the weight. Probably good preparation for stepping up afterwards.

Personally wouldn't mind seeing him give Mitchell Smith a bit of a pasting but i'm probably just being cruel.

Didn't like Walsh for a while, thought he took the piss a bit when he beat a clearly faded Scott Harrison but i've warmed to him since then. Looking forward to seeing his career unfold.

Ronnie travelled cause they lost the purse bids and it was a eliminator. I only saw the video of Troy and Ronnie and footage stopped at round 7 (I think.) Had troy comfortably up at that stage but the fight was competitive tho. Maybe another eliminator.

I dont disagree with that.. Even more reason for Troy not to sit and trade... Liam is a level above Ronnie if he boxes problem is he sits and trades that would give him a chance... I think Liam will vacate he deserves a crack at World level

Wasn't a final eliminator though, so Ryan will get a voluntary next to win it outright, Ben Jones might be more likely because they're both ranked by the WBO, but whoever it is I can't see them beating him.

No excuses, Troy lost to the better man last night, Liam is a extremely talented boxer, and a thorough nice kid. He was much smarter and better than I had anticipated, his little half step out of range and defence was fantastic, he made it hard for Troy to land clean, technically he is better than Terry Flannigan and imo he beats Terry, he also stops Stephen Smith, he doesn't waste anything, he's extremely accurate and very physically strong for his size at the weight, and His engine & gears he has is ridiculous, I can't speak high enough of him tbh.

Troy gave it his best, as he always does and would, but it wasn't good enough, Liam started to move through the gears from about the beginning of the 6th round and pulled away very quickly, up until that point I thought it was very nip & tuck, Liam caught Troy a little flat footed in the 6th or 7th I think it was, with a horrible right hand and Troys eye shut instantly.
the way he then drastically moved through the gears and with troy's eye closed he wouldn't of been able to see much coming and especially has walsh had decided to stay southpaw, he would of seen nothing coming from that side, so we decided that rather than Troy take 4 more rounds of punishment with little chance of landing one of his bombs and ko'ing Liam, that soon has he would take a sustained bit of stick or a few heavy solid shots we would pull him out, and save him for another day, which is what we did and I 100% stand by that decision, for me there is too many tough cornermen who think it's ok to just be a punchbag, that one extra punch taken can have drastic consequences, especially at a high level and the later a fight goes, with tiredness starting to creep in.

Thanks to everyone for the messages and phone calls, Troy is fine, obviuosly disappointed has it meant the world to him, but he will 100% come again, imo he showed he belongs at that level, and that was with only 28 days notice, he was never troubled to the head and would of stayed in there all night if he had his way, the kid is too tough for his own good. I spoke today to Liam on the phone and we had a good chat, he is adamant that with troys strength and power and his elusiveness that there's no other super featherweight in UK that would beat Troy, he said Troy clipped him a couple of times and he felt it hence he had to be smart and tight, he couldn't speak high enough of Troy and his ability, Liam is a absolute class fighter and a even better human being, he is a fantastic kid, he strongly believes Troy will win them titles very soon, I just hope we get the chance.

The game plan with Ronnie was too frustrate him has ronnie hasn't the fastest feet and with his style he would only like a tear up, so it was simple, we would outbox him, with Liam Walsh, it is a massive difference, he has fantastic feet, size advantage, and was probably a stone heavier than Troy on fight night, we wouldn't be able to outbox Liam with his boxing ability and range and his footwork, so only thing was to have good footwork and good upper body movement and try and catch Liam with a looping, clipping shot, has sometimes he does fall in, and Troy can take you out if he lands clean, and with it being a big chance for Troy and on a big stage, he just wanted to go for a bit of a war with Liam has that maybe be his biggest downfall, he likes to get into a fight, but Troy had to be elusive to the head, and not take too much stick early, which I feel he did and for majority of fight, but Liam was very switched on and didn't give Troy even half a chance, I spoke with Liam today and he said Troy clipped him a couple of times early and Troy can really whack, he could feel that and knew he couldn't give him a chance of even half landing clean, and he kept it very tight, meaning the looping shots that would of usually worked, he was switched on for and kept his chin well down and out of the way and his glove stuck to his face and turned his shoulder to take even more out the shot coming, he's a very smart fighter, he then just moved through the gears, we only had 28 days notice and Troy has the chin, heart & will to go 12 rounds with anyone at his weight but with short notice didn't have the gears to stay with Liam.

For me Liam beats and stops Stephen smith and beats Terry Flannigan up at Lighweight, he is much better than Terry imo technically, defensively and in every departments, Terry has a fantastic engine and is fast, but Liam doesn't waste a single punch, is very accurate, and has the engine of a formula 1 race car, he moves through gears with ease, he's quality.

I think Liam can and will win a world title at either S/F or L/W he's that good.

Thank you samwbr, appreciate that mate, yh that's all we want, is to be in good, honest fights, win/lose/draw, I hope Troy gets another shot soon, I'm very proud of his performance on 28 days notice with a amazing talent like Liam, I've had numerous calls and msg's from some top boxers who all are saying that Troy with out doubt will win them titles once Liam moves on, it's very encouraging to hear and will mean the world to us if he does.

In all this the only thing I was very disappointed in was the way Troy was treated by all the boxing media, not that he was bothered as he's a no nonsense, straight forward, quiet lad who just likes to fight, but never the less, no one even took 5 mins to speak to him and find out anything about him, what he thought about the fight, or how he thought he would do or even after his efforts no one still bothered, including IFL who seemed to video & film Everyman and there dog for the few days we was down in London haha, poor form imo by some very self obsessed, fame hungry pudenda, who has boxing journalist or what ever they want to call themselves surely should be interviewing less known lads aswell shouldn't they had that's what there job is, to put out to the boxing fans rather than just the same handful of already known high profile boxers, or even there coaches, managers, I mean I've even boxers dads being interviewed before haha and these fake reality TV people I've seen interviews with haha it's a absolute joke imo, could of shown the kid a bit of respect and gave him 5 mins of there time to find out a bit about a hard working lad and what makes him want to fight and what it means to him
