Best Boxing Moments?
For me was when Big George Forman won the world title for the second time. It's amazing how much he was hated when he fought Ali till how much he was loved when he fought Moorer.

Maybe not the most glamorous reply but watching a young Mathew Macklin win in the early rounds of the ABA's,1st fight against Jamie scanlon,2nd round against my pal terry Adams from Birmingham Irish, the best amateur I ever seen, just really stuck with me

Re: Best Boxing Moments?
I don't have a best moment but just to be different my worse moment was seeing Tyson knocked out by Douglas....I was growing up in that era just getting into my boxing and thought Tyson was indestructible and would never be hurt let alone KO'd

Loved seeing Clinton woods win a world strap. Loved seeing Michael Gomez beat Alex Arthur. Hatton vs KT was a great night, tho he was never really the same fighter IMO.

Re: Best Boxing Moments?
I enjoyed the 'Indian summer' of Ryan Rhodes career. He had went a bit stale but then showed what he was all about. Gutted he never managed to win a world title.
I was ringside when Burns beat Martinez and that was pretty special. Calzaghe beating the bejesus out of Lacy was pretty satisfying.

Re: Best Boxing Moments?
Hatton vs Tszyu was the best for me.
I know the fight was a letdown, but Fury beating Wlad was another big one recently.
Loved watching Broner get chinned by Maidana, probably seen that fight 4 times now
Also liked seeing Tarver get shut down and dominated by Hopkins.
Now I think about it, Danny Williams has provided some great moments for me.It's terrible the road that he has decided to go down, I hope he finds peace with himself and leaves it well alone but -
1. Coming back to knockout Mark Potter out with 1 arm after dislocating his shoulder was an amazing moment to win the British title.
2. Taking an absolute hammering from a (faded) Mike Tyson before showing tremendous heart to turn things around. Really special moment that, despite Tyson being at the very end of his career.
3. Going in as a fairly big underdog and being the first to expose Audley Harrison
4. Smashed the then 23-0 Kali Meehan in a defence of his Commonwealth strap, which was a decent win looking back.
Nice to remember the good times eh?

Was never a Bruno fan but when he beat McCall was superb
Re: Best Boxing Moments?
Gonna do the same and then probably the Tyson one after thatStuarty30 wrote:Great shout mateWebbo911 wrote:Hatton vs Tszyu was the best for me.

Good idea. That's my entertainment sorted til the Leicester gameWebbo911 wrote:Gonna do the same and then probably the Tyson one after thatStuarty30 wrote:Great shout mateWebbo911 wrote:Hatton vs Tszyu was the best for me.

Yeah Rhodes was class act.Stuarty30 wrote:I enjoyed the 'Indian summer' of Ryan Rhodes career. He had went a bit stale but then showed what he was all about. Gutted he never managed to win a world title.

Choi beating Derry on the tele was good fun. Nowt against Matthews but I’d chatted with Choi a few times and most people thought he was there as “the opponent”.
Maidana beating About Being A Dumba$$. Especially after moron features had pretended to bum him in the second round.

Re: Best Boxing Moments?
Best overall fight for me was Calzaghe vs Lacy, simply because Calzaghe is from just down the road from me so I'd followed his career since the beginning and it was such a superb & dominant performance in a fight where he'd been written off by many.
Obviously far too many individual moments to mention, but Lennox destroying Golota in about 90 seconds and seeing Darren Barker win the world title were both memorable highs.

Lennox Lewis destroying the myth of Razor Ruddock.
Many felt he wasn't ready for the so-called uncrowned HW champion whose reputation was built on the back of two defeats to the equally one dimensional Tyson of '91.
Lewis destroyed him without breaking sweat; in fact, Lewis was so shocked at how easily he won, that he didn't even know how to stand in the corner properly whilst the referee waved the fight off to save Razor from further punishment.

Re: Best Boxing Moments?
Seeing Broner run away whilst the fans threw bottles and bits of trash at him was a glorious moment.
Froch destroying Bute, Calzaghe beating Lacey and Fury ending Wlad's run at the top were also great.

Re: Best Boxing Moments?
Let me re-phrase that it sounds terrible, wasn’t concentrating. It was thrilling and exciting, as a Choi fan! No offence Derry and his many fans - of which I am also one.Stevieb8006 wrote:What a beating that wasmagwitch wrote:

Beautiful right cross to finish it. Moorer should've seen it coming but Foreman put him off with the jab. Re: Best Boxing Moments?
As a British boxing fan abroad, Benn-Barkley was incredible, the atmosphere was electric. When Benn came in to 'Land of Hope and Glory', I was a British as I've ever been.

Think people forget how highly regarded Bute was before that.

Really funny how Big Georges life has gone on since then ...The Grill made him millions and I heard that deal should of originally went to Hulk Hogan. Then you look at Foreman's life and ALi's.....it amazing really!
Re: Best Boxing Moments?
Loads really, the Gomez and Alex Arthur fight is one of my favourites and for me the first ever Prizefighter was one of the best nights of boxing I have ever seen.
