Mayweather applying for various trademarks with "50" in them.

Unless he's trying to screw over 50 Cent somehow, this makes a comeback and attempt for win #50 seem more likely.

But the company owned by Mayweather, who said he was discussing guarantees that would top $100 million if he did return, filed for trademarks to "TMT 50" and "TBE 50" on April 21, ESPN.com has learned. Records recently posted on the U.S. Patent & Trademark website confirm the filings.

IMO people have to be naive to think he'd permanently retire at 49-0. There's too much money and historical significance in a 50th fight.

He was always going to fight a fiftieth, the money would be too big. I said this about four years ago on here. Pity he fought Manny when he did, if they hadn't have fought yet it could have been even bigger now.

I doubt that he will be offered 100+ mil for facing somebody like Berto, Bradley, Cotto or even Canelo if he ducks GGG.

Either Floyd will have to settle on his regular (~ 30mil) purse or he will have to risk his zero against Golovkin or somebody else posing higher danger.

Floyd vs Golovkin at 154lb would be an intriguing matchup and is probably the most significant fight he could be involved in. Unfortunately we've never seen Floyd take that kind of risk before, so it's highly unlikely to happen. If Spence gets a big win, then a fight with him, or Thurman or Brook could be interesting. Not at all interested in seeing a Canelo rematch.

Whilst I wouldn't be interested either, a fight with Canelo is probably likely given he's the WBC middleweight champion. Or Khan, if was to win. Somehow.

Promo copy on Floyd-Canelo II doesn't exactly write itself. "Three years ago, floyd was better in every way. But this time... Uh, three years have gone by."

He can get it from the Canelo/Khan winner(and make no mistake the WBC would gladly put GGG aside to bring in Floyd for the Middleweight strap at 155.

Manny brings the eyes of the world, Canelo does not nor will he. If Floyd fights again it will most definitely be Pacquiao and he will laughably predict a knockout to sell it. Since the last fight left the shit taste in everyone's mouth.

Looking past the obvious Pacquiao fight, a match up against Khan is he was to shock Canelo would be very interesting. Other than that, Garcia maybe? Undefeated so far. Terrence Crawford? Errol Spence?Maybe even Daniel Jacobs or Billy Joe Saunders, at a catch weight for the middleweight title.

I would be disappointed if it was Broner or Bradley.
