What world class / world champs have you seen box live?

Post by reggaereggae »

And by this I mean future, past and current champs? I was thinking a bout this the other day and it's a lot more than I thought!

- Scott Harrison, losing an early fight against Miguel Mathews on a cut
- Nigel Benn.. Against Lou Gent and Henry Wharton
- Steve Collins (in the same bill against a South African)
- Lennox Lewis against McCall
- Corrie Sanders on the same bill against Ironhead
- Chris Eubank against a South American at Olympia
- Joe Calzaghe against Sheika
- Vinny Paz against Herol Graham

I'll get back with more - but who've you seen? ESP Mike Tyson?

Steve Molitor was bloody good the night he took the IBF belt. Hunter didn’t get turned over like that until that night.

And not the elite level perhaps but Jason Booth boxed brilliantly when he beat Hunter. Booth a little man but he was like a tank.

Really struggling to remember who was on a lot of the undercard fights on the bigger shows I have attended but there will be some decent names amongst them id imagine such as...

Joshua

Still hoping to see Frampton at somepoint and want to go to a fight in New York which I havent done. Sadly the timing of the Frampton LSC fight is far too short notice for me.

Tyson Fury, Carl Froch, David Haye, George Groves, James DeGale, Mikkel Kessler, Nathan Cleverley, Billy Joe Saunders, Enzo Macarinelli, a Anthony Joshua, Micheal Katsidis

On a lower level but still world class I've seen Eubank Jnr, Chisora and Kevin Mitchell all a few times on various stacked undercards/main events. If you watch undercards and don't sit in the bar like a lot of people do you can build up quite a list of past and future world class fighters fairly quickly

There's probably loads more but I just can't remember

I do mind of a time I met a good looking bird at uni I was trying to woo that was into boxing, and telling her we should go and see this young fighter I thought might be going places at York Hall called Kell Brook. Anyway she was washing her hair or something and I didn't go. I regret that one a little bit.

Frampton in Belfast is the best atmosphere I've experienced. Different class.

The only world championship bill I have been to was Robinson vs Hamed, but actually most of the bill contained at least one fighter who would either be a world champion or contest for a world title.

World champions Naz, Robinson, Jason Matthews and Glenn Catley.
World title challengers - Justin Jukko, Tony Pep, Nicky Piper, Daniel Alicea, Kevin Lueishing.

Also Had Noel Magee (Commonwealth champion) on the bill.

Good card. I don't get to as many fights as I'd like. I usually go to a few a year depending in what's on but I enjoy watching on the telly just as much to be honest.

I can't remember the full list but one that always springs to mind was that after watching a lot of the top British fighters in early 2000s, I saw sharmba Mitchell fight on a Hatton undercard and he stood out a mile from everyone I'd seen movement wise.

It's a bank holiday mate, so it's allowed. I'm at work, but at least I've got some Salesmen to shout out.
