I think the real issue is he debutted at 30, only stepped up to a high level competition fairly recently, only really has a disperse cult following, and has tested positive for banned substances twice.

I really like what I see from him but his time may be limited. Hopefully he lands a big fight soon.

A pretty skilled lefy with pop?? I'd say that's a big yes...

He may not be THE biggest danger as there are other guys who are very dangerous, but he is still pretty poor risk/reward...

He is the almost certainly the best heavyweight on the planet but probably won't ever get the opportunity to prove it.

No one's ducking him.

According to some people every Cuban is getting ducked.

You don't like Joshua and he's a great prospect. You don't seem to be too into Ortiz. Do you not like Wilder as well? You tell me.

Horse definitely isn't a Wilder hater....he's given him a lot more credit for his resume than most people have.

I'm a huge Luis Ortiz fan. Being from South Florida I attended like his first 8 Fights. Probably over 10 fights total. He is amazing to watch. I'm probably bias but I think he beats anyone right now. I hope he gets a big fight ASAP. I think he's got a good 5 Years left in him. He takes very little punishment in fights and in sparring so I don't think he's gonna expire as fast as some may think. Again though, I may be bias lol. I always root for the Floridians I've seen fight in person on their way up

I saw some of those fights live too. Releford and Butler and opponents like that. He hasn't stepped up much until Jennings, but in boxing of course that may not be his fault.

I was amazed when he beated the best American boxer out there called Bryant Jennings, but when I looked at him in his last match he looked surprisingly fast for his looks, but still not as fast as AJ for example.

Bryant Jennings is a tough son of a gun. His win resume is very impressive and he gave Klitschko his toughest fight in 10 Years. I give Luis Ortiz a LOT of credit for being able to stop Jennings. Jennings is a bad mofo. His win resume is more impressive than Joshua and Wilder. The IBF and WBC Champions at the moment lol

If you take a look at the bracket of WBA's "tournament", maybe we will find out sooner than later. I am so far very impressed with Ortiz.

Hopefully that tournament gets one, some good fights there, not holding my breath though.

Therealjudge wrote:I think the heavyweight division is trying to old man him big time.. Meaning avoiding him until he's 40+ years old in order to stand a greater chance of beating him.. I think King Kong is technically sound with great timing and a good chin with awesome power, I think he's got it all.. Literally the only thing he hasn't got on his side is his age... As always I'd like to hear from anyone with a fairly educated opinion at least.. Thanks

totaly, he is going to be avoided like dictators avoid democracy

ortiz is the best heavyweight in the world, even atg like lennox lewis or larry holmes would have big time problems against ortiz. for the reasons you mentioned. o is super strong, build big, great power, but yet can move light on his feet, adding great technic and punch variation and you got a super dangerous heavyweight. he is the best heavyweight since vitaly klitschko.

Very stupid comment... Everybody is ducking Ortiz.. John David Jackson made a massive mistake putting Bryant Jennings in with Ortiz.. That fight is going to stay with Bryant for the rest of his life.. Jennings was never comfortable for 10 seconds in that fight he was so lost with Ortiz's skills.. Since then Ortiz can't get an appropriate fight.. I think maybe Andy Ruiz would fight him.. Since he murdered Joe Hanks' career he can get a decent opponent either.. In every other individual sport such as Golf and Tennis you get the opponents you deserve.. In Boxing, the weak guys like Berto, Khan, Frampton, and Bradley get all the offers from the money guys -- and the great boxer-punchers like Lomachenko, Russell, Crawford, Brook, Golovkin, Kovalev. and Ortiz go begging.

Ortiz is yet to fight the top fighters. We'll reserve judgement for then.

No one's ducking him either. He ain't got no belt.

That "he ain't got no belt" suggests to me he may well be being ducked, and if he ain't given a chance to try and win a belt within the next 12 months he's most definitely being ducked for one reason or another.

Suggest this suggest that. The only suggestion that should be made is if Ortiz is good enough and confident in himself he should get off his butt and call out Fury, Wilder or Joshua up close and personally. No one's ducking him cos he's not publicly swinging and I mean like Briggs, Clubbers Lang and whoever the hell else that understands that professional boxing is a business. He'd probably click once he's 40 they way he's going.

For people outside Ortiz's fan club at this forum he is unknown boxer with one top rated win or so, foreigner in US with no ring-appeal. Simply not interesting. So nobody well promoted and well managed want to fight him...no money to earn :stop:
