totaly shocked. positivly shocked. but it would make sense. i realy could see ggg one day at lh, at least sm....

ggg vs kova/ward should be a ppv mega event. sad that all 3 arent very entertainer talker. ward is as boring as it gets. ggg is always "i fight anybody", but than wont sign for lara or make a bigger push for ward, canelo etc and kovalev, well, he is boring too. but fight wise, this would be mega.

Not interested. It would be a mimatch. Ggg has too small a frame.

Fighting someone who would outweigh him 30 lbs come fight night more like.

How would You react if GGG signed to fight the winner of Ward/Kova at 175?

I'd strip down to my underwear and run around town with a pint of whiskey in my hand screaming, "It's signed, it's signed!!"

Or I'd just say "cool" and look forward to watching it.

I'm trying to think of the last time a fighter jumped 2 weightclasses to fight the best in that heavier division.

Marquez springs to mind vs Floyd but even then there was a catchweight (that Floyd missed in the end).

Pac vs ODLH maybe?

In those scenarios though you have a mega PPV star giving the smaller guy the biggest payday carrot in their careers (at the time) to jump 2 weights.

With Golovkin, he's already a bigger star than Kovalev and Ward combined. It would be different if they were guys selling 1.5m+ PPVs every 6 months. Not going to happen. Canelo and Cotto are the biggest names around for G and both are Middleweights.

I'd be shocked, excited and worried all at the same time. I think GGG vs Ward at 168lb is an obvious fight to make.

That's a stretch. GGG typically weight around 170lb on fight night while fighting at middleweight. I can't imagine him weighing less than 175lb on fight night for a fight at light heavy. Kovalev has weighed from the low to high 180s on fight night, his highest being 189lb. Ward would likely be a little lighter. I honestly think a 15lb difference is more likely.

RJJ had exceptional reflexes and was incredibly quick and hard to hit, and he picked a heavyweight champ who was slow, plodding, didn't hit that hard, and who he was likely to be able to outbox.

RJJ was only the second person in history to go from 160 to heavyweight, and win a title, the other being Fitzsimmons, two people in the entire history of the sport.

GGG is not Roy jones, his skillset is totally different. It's based on precise timing, pressure and economy of movement and output.

So basically, your point is pretty, well, pointless.

My point is, he'd be conceding pretty big advantages come fight night. People make out like he's only interested in fighting guys inferior to him, at least he fights genuine middleweights, unlike some other middleweights I could mention.

LOL, so you recall Roy being 164 pounds, 30 days out from a fight, in his mid 30's?

He's a straight Middleweight, he could fight at 160 with same day weigh ins.

He fought a very weak champion not a division number one. GGG was ready to fight Froch, who is 10 times better then Ruiz.

I'd be surprised to see him make that leap up in class while bypassing 168, but I'd be excited to see the fight. I don't think it'd be a smart career move for Golovkin though, and I don't look for it to happen.

He may fight at 175 at the very end of his career. At this time, he could fight at 168-170, not above that.

I don't see Golovkin ever fighting at 175 personally. He's just not that big of a guy. He's a natural Middleweight if there ever was one.

Abel Sanchez says stuff all the time like that. He's not the one making those decisions for Golovkin and his career though.

I think Golovkin respects Sanchez A LOT and takes his advise in consideration. Loefler also would ask Abel's opinion when it comes to subjects like weight. Of course what Sanchez says on camera may be different from what he tells Golovkin and Loefler.

I think Roy was a good decade younger than GGG the last time he fought at Middleweight. He fought Ruiz right around the same age as GGG is now at a diesel 193. Preposterous comparison. Much like Rafael comparing Leonard/Hagler to Floyd/GGG, too many agendas.

but he's hasn't fought a fight that is considered at 60/40 fight let alone 50/50.

That's because he's better than his opponents.
