Ortiz quits again!
Re: Ortiz quits again!
Ortiz is a tool. Plain and simple. From that pathetic prefight interview "Here i am, Rock you like a hurricane" garbage, to the quitting yet again in the ring and then finally interrupting Berto's post fight interview like a dickhead. Go away, Victor Ortiz.

Enjoy the guy, cause he's so dumb and unpredictable - I wish he'd fight Amir
Re: Ortiz quits again!
What a tool. His actions in the Mayweather fight sum him up! Sticking the nut in then being over apologetic! A lot of toss!

Re: Ortiz quits again!
It's a testament to how far his star has fallen that he isn't even the fighter I first think of when I hear the name "Ortiz" these days.
Like Leatherface I've enjoyed his unpredictability in the past but he has started to become just predictably bad now. I once wondered if fights with Danny Garcia or Adrian Broner might be fun - after getting abused and belittled in the build-up he'd maybe be motivated to push beyond himself to prove them wrong (see Garcia-Judah). If that was going to happen though it would've over the weekend in what was clearly a make-or-break fight.
It's a shame as he was looking decently sharp early on but if he can't commit to a fight he'd be better off getting out the game while he still has his health. If that happens I'll mostly remember him for vs. Maidana and vs. Berto I. Great fights.

His fights are fun, can't say that about many current fighters. He'll fight anyone and I enjoy watching him lose. Get him in there with Rios.

Agree completely. One of the most amazing things I've ever seen ! The ref says, "Let's Go," and Ortiz wants to hug and talk like he's in a 12 step program.

One of the most ridiculous things I constantly get to read is how Floyd cheated in that fight. Being a man, if another guy follows a headbutt with a sexual assault I'm throwing asap.Tony1244 wrote:Stuarty30 wrote:What a tool. His actions in the Mayweather fight sum him up! They even used the language barrier excuse. Language barrier? Ortiz is from Kansas! And I'm no fan of Mayweather. Maybe Ortiz wanted a slow dance and a couple more comforting hugs before he was ready.

Re: Ortiz quits again!
ANOTHER shockingly slow count from that sadist Jack Reiss again,he wasnt even up by 10 and Jack was choking to let it continue,if Ortiz did manage to carry on and somehow win,i'd be livid if i was Team Berto
Re: Ortiz quits again!
i thought the knockout was legit.
Re: Ortiz quits again!
Ortiz doesn't like getting punched in the face. He cares far too much about what it looks like. Not a good thing for a boxer. But he's only there for the money anyway. Betting against him against any good fighter is pretty much a lock. Once he gets hit a few times he's done.
Re: Ortiz quits again!
Ortiz's antics against Mayweather have to be among the most laughable I've seen in the ring. Flagarantly headbutt a guy, then try to cuddle with him like he's your girlfriend, then just stand around like an idiot with a stupid smile on your face after the ref has yelled 'box'.
Talk about dumbass overload.
Talk about dumbass overload.

Yeah it shouldn't have been a question of "Do you want to continue?" he didn't beat the counthandsofstone wrote:ANOTHER shockingly slow count from that sadist Jack Reiss again,he wasnt even up by 10 and Jack was choking to let it continue,if Ortiz did manage to carry on and somehow win,i'd be livid if i was Team Berto
Re: Ortiz quits again!
The fact that the ref gave Ortiz a little more time at the 10 count, just proved even more that he shouldn't be in there. What bothers me about Ortiz is the pre fight stuff like, "none of the 147-154 guys impress me" or the "I'm going down as one of the greats!" When he says stuff like that and then sings to the camera and then takes a great punch and cannot continue? He basically overpromises and underdelivers, And all the smiling, passive aggressiveness really is annoying and comes off as fake. His only real options are another Berto fight, or a Rios match, but I doubt either of those guys promotors will allow that
Re: Ortiz quits again!
he gets quite some heat here. i for
one always liked ortiz. comes to
fight and hits too hurt. he is a solid
second tier fighter, nothing wrong
with that. neither with some trash
talking self & promotion.
i think he was stupid against floyd,
yet the KO was a cheap move from
mister money. justified by the rules,
cheap nevertheless.
this ko against berto lately was legit
and nobody would question that, if
ortiz hadn't quit before.

Re: Ortiz quits again!
Agreed Ortiz is vilified, and it all started from that great fight with Maidana. He caught undeserved hell for that. Nothing cheap about what Floyd did, he showed tremendous restraint and class there.

mister money...". Mayweather has certainly shown terrible character out of the ring, but I respectfully disagree here. It's either "time in" or "time out." I don't know of any in between twilight time and the KO occurred when time was in.

We just disagree on it being "a cheap shot." I don't think it was a cheap shot at all. You're either boxing or you're not boxing. There is no room for chit chat and hugs during time in.man wrote:as i wrote "justified by the rules".Tony1244 wrote:Agree and/or understand everything you said until you got to: "the KO was a cheap move fromman wrote:he gets quite some heat here. i for

criteria, since yours see punching a man

hands down and looking the other way
literally as showing "tremendous restraint

which is quite ... amazing. i assume that

distinguished courtship.

in boxing history would intentionally not
have done that. there is that famous fight
of ali who told the ref to stop the fight,
cause he didn't want to hit the fellow any
further. no way he does what floyd did
despite being fouled.
and if floyd was not the tremendous boxer
he is, this would have been way more widely
condemned.
what you are basically saying is that everything
that is legal cannot be cheap and i disagree.
