That's a stretch. GGG typically weight around 170lb on fight night while fighting at middleweight. I can't imagine him weighing less than 175lb on fight night for a fight at light heavy. Kovalev has weighed from the low to high 180s on fight night, his highest being 189lb. Ward would likely be a little lighter. I honestly think a 15lb difference is more likely.
How would You react if GGG signed to fight the winner of Ward/Kova at 175?

MMA is better analogy your the best in the division you move up in fight the best in next division. English football your the best in your division you move up and challenge yourself. The greats do it.ikorolev wrote:So, if a runner or a swimmer is much faster than everybody else, he should wear weights to make it even ?world ranked wrote:but he's hasn't fought a fight that is considered at 60/40 fight let alone 50/50.jamesmcdonnell wrote:

Try half an inch taller - Roy 5'11", GGG 5'10 1/2". Roy's reach is 4 inches longer and yes, he's definitely broader, which contributes to this. At GGG's age, Roy was a natural light heavyweight. None of this means GGG can't compete at light heavyweight, but to skip 168lb and go straight for the #1 in the division would be a huge ask.Butterbean wrote:scallum2015 wrote:Roy Jones similar size went way to Heavyweightfanman wrote:Not interested. no, just no !
havent checked, but roy was at least hald a head taller and way broader than ggg no ? and the roids also had a say in this !

With Golovkin's style, fighting much bigger men is a huge health risk. He takes shots in order to return a bigger favor and he has a great chin, meaning he can take a lot of punishment. Taking a bunch of shots from likes of Kovalev when you are much smaller, you can end up in a coma.

I'm just asking to move to 68, 175 is unreasonableikorolev wrote:Brazil soccer team from 60s-70s didn't sit a few players to make it even.world ranked wrote:MMA is better analogy your the best in the division you move up in fight the best in next division. Prety much this and Saad's same day comments. In this day and age he's actually a small middleweight. There are plenty of fighter at 154 who weigh more on fight night.gilgamesh wrote:I don't see Golovkin ever fighting at 175 personally. He's just not that big of a guy. There's plenty of boxers GGG could fight if he wants to pass the time I don't get it.
Re: How would You react if GGG signed to fight the winner of Ward/Kova at 175?
He just needs two more belts. After that, he will take fights at 168.world ranked wrote:I'm just asking to move to 68, 175 is unreasonableikorolev wrote:Brazil soccer team from 60s-70s didn't sit a few players to make it even.world ranked wrote:

I think he wants the record for Middleweight Title defenses before he leaves the division. That would be at least 5 more fights at Middleweightikorolev wrote:He just needs two more belts. Re: How would You react if GGG signed to fight the winner of Ward/Kova at 175?
He would KO Ward and beat Kovalev by decision... However he won't be fighting them for a couple of years at least... He needs to get Canelo, Sanders, Jacobs, Jack, and DeGale into a ring and knocked out first. That would make him at least 40-0 with 37 KO wins... The ironic thing is GGG would have fought Ward and Kovalev years ago if his acclimation fights with Oosthuizen, Rodriguez, Chavez, and Froch hadn't been scuttled by the powers that be.KingJune wrote:?

"ggg vs kova/ward should be a ppv mega event. sad that all 3 arent very entertainer talker. ward is as boring as it gets. ggg is always "i fight anybody", but than wont sign for lara or make a bigger push for ward, canelo etc and kovalev, well, he is boring too. but fight wise, this would be mega.
Boring eh??? ... A super aggressive guy with a tremendous work ethic who has 22 straight KO's, throws more jabs per round than any other champion, and bombs people TFO. He DOESN'T do Ward, Floyd, or Klitschko type clinching and holding and forces the fight... Lara lost to Williams and Canelo and is in a different weight class... It's screwy to talk about that non-happening fight... Canelo is the Lineal Middleweight Champion and GGG is his mandatory challenger---but he ducks him to fight chinny cherry-picked Welterweight Khan.. GGG has plenty of time to go north when he unifies 160 with bigger money fights than Ward, Jack, or DeGale would have provided... Martinez, Cotto, and Canelo were his primary targets but they were too cowardly to face him.. and so were the 168-pounders he lined up like Rodriguez, Chavez, and Froch only to have them flake off. So you're nothing but a hater.

I'd be disappointed, I'm still hoping Alvarez grows a set and signs to fight him.

you so stupid. i have talking about kovalev being a boring entertainer talker. i never said he is boring inside the ring which he obviously isnt.
you know nothing about boxing if you think lara lost to pw and canelo, anybody with a bit of boxing sense saw the way lara schooled both. i remember roy jones saying "lara won against williams, what a robbery"
ggg must start to talk clear, he is not clear. i dont buy that "i face anybody" anymore.

Re: How would You react if GGG signed to fight the winner of Ward/Kova at 175?
of course you dont, because...
Re: How would You react if GGG signed to fight the winner of Ward/Kova at 175?
Kovalev would have too much size on him. He's probably over 190 in the ring, how much does GGG weigh on fight night, around 170?
Ward is more reasonable, but I don't see that happening neither, nor do I think it should. There are a plethora of guys at 160 and 168 that Golovkin could establish a massive legacy if he were to beat.
I mean right now there are Jacobs, Saunders, Alvarez (Khan?), at mw, several guys at 154 who could move up like lara and the Charlos, maybe Andrade, and Ramirez, DeGale, Jack, perhaps Smith and Groves at 168
If that's not enough to make a HOF resume out of, I don't know what it would take.
