If it was up to you: would you license Shannon Briggs to fight in the UK?

Hi all,

no matter what you may think of him, on a personal level........ would you license him? I have seen many comments akin to "he's gassed after 3 rounds" but to be fair he has gone 12 rounds against Rafael Love within his recent comeback. Seeing Matt Skelton allowed to box David Price a couple of years back worried me more than Briggs being allowed to fight

Personally, I'd license him.

Your thoughts?

Nope. He took a horrible beating from Vitali and he could get seriously hurt if this proposed David Haye fight comes off.

there is a rumor Briggs fights Dimitrenko.. if that happens Haye wont fight Briggs because im almost certain Dimitrenko beats Briggs .. so i guess it will be Haye vs Dimitrenko after Haye knocks out Gjergjaj

Skelton boxed AJ two years after Price ko'ed him.

If nothing showed up in any of his tests why not? He's in good shape for his age. In cases like his they should be made to pass more checks. In saying that I'd hate to see him take another beating like he did against Vitali.

I dont see why not. People get beat, this is boxing. Klitschko fight was million years ago and wounds heal. My main concern would be illegal substances. I would institute out of competition 24/7 random drug test, so to make sure that public is not cheated.

He's a mid-40's chronic asthma sufferer who never really achieved anything outstanding when in his prime.

Now he is a sad mouthpiece, hiding under the table of the top heavyweights, hoping some scraps falls off for him to eat.

I'm disappointed that Haye has now commenced his mock 'beef' with Briggs and basically said he's fighting him next to "shut him up" etc etc. Be interesting if Briggs lost.

I entirely agree. Boxing is far too dangerous a sport to allow wildly overmatched opponents to take risks like this on the basis that they are a 'personality' or 'good fun.'

Briggs is 46, and has had a long career, and taken a fair few serious beatings already. It's really all about levels, there's probably people he could come to the UK and beat, but if he's going to be facing the likes of Haye, then it would be a very bad matchup.

If Briggs is receiving a thorough beating then the referee should step in and stop it.

The Vitali fight should have been stopped.

You are talking about 6 years ago.

He's got no business getting in the ring with top heavyweights, and gentlemen like yourself are part of the problem and not the solution.

People need saving from themselves.

Briggs fought Lennox just 2 years after Bruno was a reigning world champion. That's how fecking old and irrelevant he is. He is from an era that is long gone.

Tyson Fury was still in nappies when Briggs turned professional.
