Classic fights I've watched recently

Bobby Chacon vs Rafael Limon 2,3+4(couldnt find 1 )

probably my new favourite rivalry,im glad ive finally got around to watching these,all 3 fights i seen were humdingers where there was little regard for defence or much foot movement

2nd fight was excellent but Limon's eye was cut after an accidental clash in the 7th and because Chacon was in the lead it was declared a TD

3rd fight was exellent too although the 1st 2 rounds were missing,toe to toe again,Chacon gets the nod on the cards but i thought Limon was robbed,he even dropped Bobby

4th fight they really saved the best for last,this was the only world title fight between the pair,Chacon winning a razor thin decsision to take Bazooka's WBC super featherweight belt,an absolute classic,Chacon down twice and Limon down in the last,although how he never went down way before that i'll never know,ive seen thousands of fights but i dont think ive ever seen a fighter take such a shellacking without going down as Rafael Limon did in that 4th fight,he even found the will to return fire

Must see for any boxing fan who havent seen it yet

Watched that recently too and the rematch,the 1st fight was great,rematch not so much,couldnt find the rubber match online,Chinoi looked good in the 1st fight from memory,didnt he take McGowan's title?

Yeah it was the first I saw, impressive stuff, the Thai loves an overhand right and Torres great with the hooks and bodyshots.

Chacon vs Bazooka Limon IV, along with Leonard vs Hearns I and Sithachawai vs Manshipour are the three best fights I have ever seen in my lifetime

I've only seen the 4th fight, but I always list it among my favorite fights of all time. That fight is absolutely insane. The memorable 10th round of Bowe-Holyfield where Holyfield is all but out on his feet, and then Bowe punches himself out a bit allowing Evander to come back and hammer him as the round ends....Yeah....just about every round in Limon vs Chacon IV is like that. That fight is absolutely ridiculous.

i think the brit crowd of that time were quite renowned for their evendhandedness and fairness when it came to decisions, its not the first time i have heard an anecdote like that

Just had Franklin/Saad v Johnson 1 & 2 on at the weekend. Priceless scraps

I've only seen one, I think the first one- Johnson seems to be trying to break the world uppercut record, and you start seriously questioning how saads head isn't hanging off his neck by a thin sliver of skin, after them

Just brutal that was. I don't think I've ever seen a fighter take a punch and recover as well as Saad. If you've not seen his second fight with Yaqui Lopez, that's a stunner too. Possibly the best recovery I've ever seen in round 9!

Wilfredo Gomez vs Lupe Pintor

Excellent fight,watched this a couple of years ago on the recommendation of Palooka but just watched it again,very competitive all the way through,Gomez's face was a mess despite him seeming to land all the heavier blows,terrific finish especially the left hook which finished Pintor off

Gomez had high ridges to his cheekbones mate which meant his eyes swelled relatively quickly, but I think you're selling pintors work in that fight short, he had Gomez backing off repeatedly and landed a lot. Sure Gomez was heavier handed but pintor was accurate and his defence better than Gomez, who really only won on natural size IMO

Gomez started off pretty frantic but I agree Pintor probably looked the better on a whole,I think Wilfredo maybe realised after about the 4th that Lupe won't be going anywhere in a hurry and there was still a long way to go which allowed Pintor to get control of the fight,I didn't think he was able to hurt Gomez though,as you said the weight proving quite decisive down the stretch,Pintor for all his toughness was sent reeling against the ropes from what looked like a fairly "soft" punch for want of a better word so maybe fatigue played its part too,great KO from Gomez to keep his record going though at mate

True,also Pintor choosing to wear the worlds largest gumshield couldn't have helped his breathing it reminded me of McClellan's in the Benn fight

As much as a I love Conteh (I was practically brought up oh his fights ), there is no way he deserved a draw in that fight.

Burnett was robbed big style.
