Is Fr&nk allegedly into darts now?

Post by chad »

"Male-focused channel Dave has made its second move into live TV sports, striking a deal with Fr&nk allegedly to air the British Darts Organisation’s World Trophy event."

“Though I have worked predominantly in boxing for nearly 40 years, I have also promoted and been involved in various other sports and entertainment ventures throughout my career,” said allegedly. “I am delighted to have been part of setting this event up and securing the BDO one of the UK’s leading broadcasters for the event.”

When did he get involved with the BDO?

I'm no darts fan but isn't the BDO to the PDC already a bit like W@rren to Matchroom in boxing, i.e more for the traduitionalists actually interested in the darts where as the PDC is all gimmicky and full of casuals who go for 'the crack'.

Kind of, I know PDC was formed over 20 years ago with A break away of the top 20 or so players from the BDO, Phil Taylor was one of them.

I'm sure another poster can explain much better than I can. Though I think Barry Hearn has tried to buy the BDO out in the past.

Darts split into PDC and BDO over rows over money etc.

If you look now the world's top players are all in the PDC playing in front of thousands at every event on sky earning big money. The BDO guys are largely amateur playing darts in front of few hundred if they do well enough to qualify for an event.

If Warren is into darts with BDO then he needs to follow PDCs footsteps and make it a night out for the lads. But he is a long way behind. Darts doesn't have the fan Base for a allegedly style channel and will only capture the attention of people if it has the likes of Taylor, van gerwin, Anderson etc.

I look forward to a local ticket seller defending his darts intercontinental championship against an imported unknown who struggles to hit the board.

The BDO is rank rotten. I can't watch it. The PDC always looks bouncing. Would like to go one night. Have a couple mates who have been and really enjoyed it. Strange one Warren getting into it. The words flogging and dead horse spring to mind.

The BDO is very old fashioned. It's very much still in the vein of pub darts compared to the PDC which is where the best players and money are.

At one time it's all there was but now it's resigned to be forever second best due to the glam and dare I say razzmatazz of the PDC.

The spectators at the BDO always remind me of the Phoenix Club cabaret.

At BDO events the audience are asked for silence. I think they have done a cracking job with PDC, kept moving forward as well. Snooker could also come on with China having a couple of good players now as well. Big, big news over there last weekend.

I played darts for a number of years. I used to get called 'BDO' as I was fiercly loyal to the BDO and my hero was Martin 'Wolfie' Adams.

Two things that make Martin Adams great. His mysterious darts pouch where he keeps his secrets, flights, stems, steroids, lozengers and gizmos. And Hungry Like the Wolf.

The PDC is all about the money -- which sport isn't these days?. The BDO is more a grass roots org. Pretty much every PDC player arrives via the BDO. The real shame is that sporting politics stop players from competing in both orgs events.
