How will the next ppv giant look like?

Post by Chepppaaa »

de la hoya was beckham looks and mosley like power. tyson a feared destroyer with that aura. pac just brought the most action seen in the last 16years, tremendous t/kos. mayweather was basicly all talk, non action, teens and hip hop culture turned into watching his fights being captivated by 24/7 showcasing bling & trash talking, than after the fight everybody was like "now that was boring", just to tune in the next time, maybe in hope that big mouth would get his ass wooped.

all 4 were ppv giants. my simple question, what do you think how the next ppv giant gonne be like and more important, is he still on the scene or about to come?

to be honest, i think nobody right now is or will be a ppv giant of the current top boxers. some can box like ggg, but are super boring in interviews. some have the total package like canelo, but dont even speak english and are skill wise limited. than we got broner, who could in terms of trash talking and bling surpass floyd, but simply is a b+ boxer at best. wilder is to annoying and who is left.

what funny is, is how time and our top guys go hand in hand. in the past 90's etc, it was about substance, we got tyson, hoya etc. as the years went by, it was all smartphone, twitter, media, non talented people becoming celebritys, non substance, along with that we got floyd.

You know what? I don't care about PPV stars ... I could care less.

I love to watch great fighters like: Gennady Golovkin.. Vasyl Lomachenko.. Sergei Kovalev.. Anthony Joshua.. Kell Brook.. Errol Spence.. Gary Russell.. etc.. I love to watch guys who can box AND punch very well and DON'T grab and hold constantly.. If they become big PPV stars I'll still watch all their fights, because they're great fighters.. I never cared as much for guys like: Mayweather, Klitschko, Lewis, Ward, Maidana, Khan, Pacquiao, De La Hoya, Mosley, Trinidad, Jones, Santa Cruz, Mares, and other guys who either clinch and hold a lot - get bombed out - can't box AND punch very well - or duck the best opponents at their weight like Mayweather fighting Berto.. I still watch their fights because I'm a boxing fan, but it's just not as much fun as watching a master boxer AND puncher who doesn't clinch habitually.. Salvador Sanchez was one of my favorite old timers.. HIs fight with Wilfredo Gomez was a classic because he didn't clinch and didn't need to.. Sanchez outfought a much shorter guy in Gomez (a very dangerous puncher) on the inside. That's unusual for a taller guy with longer arms but he had all-around skills... He wasn't a major PPV star - just a very great fighter who didn't cherry-pick.

You can see interviews for free. There's much better talkers and entertainers in the world than Mayweather.. Broner.. Fury.. Ward.. Pacquiao.. and even Ali, Frazier, Leonard, Duran, and all the trash talkers of the past... Just give me the fight... I'll skip the buildup and the dog and pony show.

in this day and age things can happen
quickly. imagine wilder being knocked
down in russia, coming back and then
taking out povetkin within a round.
rocky all over, superstar made.

if fury had a better work ethic he could
be a ppv superstar with a composer
writing a no1 song and him going on
series of TV shows. if donald trump
became president, fury would be a
regular guest, as was schwarzenegger
back in the day.

unfortunately he has convictions out
of the seventeenth century and the
work ethic of a pub regular. both not
making him last long enough within
the public eye.

to answer your question, everything is
possible these days. probably will not
be like any of recent guys, because the
crowds don't cherish repetition.

i dont think it is as easy as that. a rocky story alone wont make it. than guys like gatti would have been bigger than anybody.

ppv giant is rare, very rare. like 5 guys in 40 years. you need so many things, or you have one thing that is all time high, like tysons action packed fighting style. i think we have never before and after prime tyson seen such a action packed destructive boxer ever. i am not saying that there werent heavy fisted boxers like manny or edwin valero, but tyson, he is #1 ever when it comes to pure action excitemant, that made him ppv giant. de la hoya the looks and all that. i mean thats rare, that you got a good looking boxer who is elite in skills and talks well.

wilder is a great puncher, but the dude seems stupid, childish and just annoying. he could beat josh, povetkin and still be a ppv midget.

the only guy i see could maybe be ggg, if he fought canelo, cotto to build his name into a ppv star and than continuing his path against guys like ward, degale, maybe even kovalev. but that wont happen. but that would be the dream scenario to become a ppv multi millionere giant.

You never know and it's hard to predict. The last two (Floyd and Pacquiao) no one could say they knew they would be PPV attractions until at least 8 years in their careers. as both fought in the shadows of DLH and Hamed. The next guy will be someone unlikely we already are looking at.

The days of PPV stars are just about over. Floyd's PPV sales are never gonna be topped I don't figure. Canelo's the current big PPV star, and may be one of the last ones.
