Ovil McKenzie
Just heard that he's injured so has been pulled from the Copperbox show.
Frank's not having much luck with this one.

I think they may have had some sort of idea Ovil was going to be off this show.maverick23 wrote:Just heard that he's injured so has been pulled from the Copperbox show.

I noticed he was on the new posters and press releases last week but his fight was rarely mentioned and seemed to be put well down the bill despite it being a european title fight.
Re: Ovil McKenzie
This bill is an absolute joke if Ovil is indeed injured.
Re: Ovil McKenzie
Ovill is injured, it's still a decent show, don't see why it's a joke. If they'd announced the show as it is now initially there wouldn't have been many complaints, there's 3 competitive title fights on there and another British title fight, as well as a few interesting prospects. Fighters pulling out doesn't look good but if, and it is a big if, no one else pulls out then there's nothing wrong with the show.UrbanFox wrote:This bill is an absolute joke if Ovil is indeed injured.

Are Ovil and BJS definitely injured here, or can their purses not be met by poor ticket sales ??

Never thought Ovill would end up fighting in this one tbh. Another Warren 'injury'

Re: Ovil McKenzie
It's still worth a watch. Didn't really care about the BJS fight falling through because it was a joke but I was looking forward to the McKenzie fight so that's a blow. Still 4 decent fights to watch. Two of them are interesting and the other two are worth a watch but it's obvious who'll win.
Re: Ovil McKenzie
Ovill I can't see any sort of conspiracy theory, they won the purse bid for the fight so they're going to have to pay whatever it is at some point and it's not like it's going to sell anymore elsewhere, Ovill isn't a ticket seller. Once he's fit I'd like to see it on a York Hall show, fight like that deserves to headline a show instead of being tucked away on an undercard.Black Sam Bellamy wrote:Are Ovil and BJS definitely injured here, or can their purses not be met by poor ticket sales ??
Saunders maybe more likely to have been able to fight, my guess is that the Eubank rematch is done and he has hurt his hand, might have been able to go ahead with the Bursak fight but they've decided not to risk him doing anymore damage and needing an operation putting him out for most of this year. Can't see him pulling out without an injury and costing himself a likely 6 figure payday.

I'm not convinced with the BJS injury.
Hopefully this show doesn't have any more pullouts as I don't think it can survive one.

Next scheduled pull out will probably be the Liam smith wbo title defence show. No opponent for Liam and Eddie is running a rival show. These things can lead to injuries and pull outs.PredatorHayds wrote:I'm not convinced with the BJS injury.

Sorry lads but as you saw on Saturday, the card turned out to be poor and the atmosphere at CopperBox was dire.ste1983 wrote:Agree with thisexpe wrote:Ovill is injured, it's still a decent show, don't see why it's a joke. a bit of trolling the bill was excellent.UrbanFox wrote:Sorry lads but as you saw on Saturday, the card turned out to be poor and the atmosphere at CopperBox was dire.ste1983 wrote:Agree with thisexpe wrote: Ovill is injured, it's still a decent show, don't see why it's a joke. It's hard to judge atmosphere on telly, BN don't have the best equipment, so it doesn't sound as loud as Sky, who mic theirs up.

Not so sure re atmosphere anyway seemed to be decent during both Walsh fights were both fighters had supports. If your talking about atmosphere in general then I'm not really bothered about pissed up people singing sweet caroline or football songs whilst undercard fights are on. I'd stick to matchroom shows for that kinda stuff
Re: Ovil McKenzie
Trolling, that word is now used constantly for no reason.pyenest77 wrote: a bit of trolling the bill was excellent.
From what I saw on tv, the venue looked dead empty. I'm not having a go at Franck, I have huge respect for him but I thought the card was rather disappointing.
In the end, the Walsh fight was great yes, but the whole show didn't lit the world on fire and how could it? When you have two major cancellations, it was always going to be a struggle.
Anyway, end of the discussion for me.

Re: Ovil McKenzie
Tete's opponent for this show - Zhanat Zhakiyanov - has pulled out. It was the co-feature - for an interim WBA title. Not looking too cracky for the show, given eddie is running a mega show in Liverpool a week earlier. Still no word on Liam's opponent ? I guess it won't be Cotto....JimJim2009 wrote:Next scheduled pull out will probably be the Liam smith wbo title defence show. No opponent for Liam and Eddie is running a rival show. Re: Ovil McKenzie
a mega show? Really? It might be outdoors but have your seen how its set up not much more than the echo capacity wise I'd imagine. While the Bellew fight is a good one I'd hardly call it a mega show.JimJim2009 wrote:Tete's opponent for this show - Zhanat Zhakiyanov - has pulled out. W@rren announced Paul Butler in a WBO final eliminator yesterday as chief support to Liam Smith's defense.

Dis Zhanat actually sign for that? I had heard rumours but nothing concrete.JimJim2009 wrote:Tete's opponent for this show - Zhanat Zhakiyanov - has pulled out.
