I wouldn't consider it to be an intelligent decision and I doubt that it would impress many.
Why should fury be under any obligation to impress? Surely that would be the whole point of leaving the game on his terms.

He's already made it clear he's not fussed about legacy.

You were suggesting that by quitting he'd get one over on his haters and I'm suggesting that he won't.

They'll be able to call him a coward who was afraid to take on Joshua and Wilder etc.

Oh I see. Yeah maybe then. I suppose it depends on his mindset. If he's uneffected by criticism then it's happy days.

If he were to lose to Wlad then wrap it he would be seen as nothing more than a flash in the pan at world level IMO.
if he beats Wlad again then buffers off...

He'd be see as what Collins was to Benn and Eubank or what Tarver was to Jones Jr. The guy who could negate the top guy, but who didn't have a deep body of work himself. He'd be a part of history but not one of the major champions.
Possibly but then we'd never know. Collins had lost to a couple of the top guys before he met Eubank or Benn and Tarver was beaten before and after Jones. There would always be question marks if he were to just pack it in. Let's hope he doesn't because he's a breath of fresh air IMO.
I actually felt the sport lost something with Collins not fighting RJJ or Calzaghe (in spite of boxing politics, the play it safe attitude of that time and medical conditions). Felt Collins had a really good fight in him at top level. Felt Eubank and Benn had nothing in the tank when he beat them, fights that set him up for a big stage that never happened.

I want Fury to build a legacy because many are unsatisfied with the win over Wlad. Fury has been in many entertaining fights but as effective as he was that was a poor spectacle.

Been on the deck and got up to win a couple of times. That's fairly entertaining. He uses his size, speed, skill and awkwardness well which makes things look easy so I get your point.

Didn't look so easy against John McDermott first time around .

Certainly did not. I didn't say he's done it in every fight. The majority of his fights he has done what he's wanted and boxed at his own pace. I don't think he was taking the game as serious around the time of the first McDermott fight which I thought was close. Refs score was shambolic.

Honestly I really enjoyed the Wlad fight, not the most enjoyable, but he pulled some neat stuff in that fight, and the threat of Wlad's power added to the tension of witnessing such an upset.

Fury's had some fun fights but his last three have been pretty bad IMO....at least bad to the point where if you moaned about Wlad's fights you should've been moaning about those three bouts.

The Cunningham fight was brilliant.

Fury was always good value for money prior to Chisora 2. To suggest he wasn't entertaining before that smacks of not having followed his career.

You can criticise him for being boring since then but the fact is he doesn't seem to have gotten out of second gear.

I think the Wlad rematch is going to be a cracker, personally.

Fury vs Nicolai Firtha, Neven Pacjk and Steve Cunningham. These were exciting, wild heavyweight fights with Fury down or hurt rallying to stop his spirited opponents who took the openings when they presented themselves. These criteria don't guarantee excitement? Didn't know heavyweight drama could create so much ambiguity and uncertainty, seriously.

Also the first Chisora was a fun fight. Fury was hurt a couple of times and went on to win.

Not seen the first McDermott fight for a long time. A good learning fight for Tyson, in that he had to seriously improve after. Most felt Fury was lucky. I remember him turning sideways or trying to turn his back - a lot.

Even fights like Martin Rogan, where he came out and unexpectedly fought southpaw for the first time. Nobody saw that coming and it showed his versatility. Plus it ended with a decent bodyshot I seem to recall.

He threw a lot of leather against Kevin Johnson. It was a good performance.

What was the fight where he turned up fat as anything? Was it Joey Abell? I think there was plenty of showboating and clowning from Tyson in that fight. It wasn't pretty, but it wasn't boring either and he got the stoppage.

Yeah but when he's lying there banging his missus and thinking about the next holiday or megacaravan I'm sure he won't give a shite. Though actually thinking about it, he probably will, he's a sensitive bugger.

Not saying I'm a big fan or anything. :TU:

I wonder if a brutal or embarrassing defeat would change his outlook, maybe shock him into concentrating on the job, having some goals. He does not appear to be in a great place physically or mentally right now. Maybe he can deal with it, but you have to be concerned going into a fight of this magnitude.

James Toney seemed to be in a similar place prior to his humiliation at the hands of Jones Jr. He was around 3 stone overweight at the press conference to announce the fight. Maybe more, actually. Obviously what made it worse for Toney, RJJ was all wrong for the flat footed Toney anyway, and Toney suffered dehydration at having to get the weight down for the super middleweight limit. And Toney didn't seem to engage with the gravity of the assignment at hand. Fury obviously doesn't have a weight limit, and has an advantage in already holding a win over his opponent, but needs to be several stone lighter in order to be effective carrying out his strategy and could be giving Klitschko all the confidence and motivation to do a job on him. When Wlad builds a rhythm it is very hard to get him out of it.

Fury already looking a lot leaner than he did in the press conference. He looked well in Chisora's dressing room tonight.

If it's coming off as quick as that he's losing muscle as well as fat. so perhaps not a good thing?

Apparently Fury has said Chisora can have a 3rd fight if he beats Pulev tonight? Just goes to show all the talk of retiring is bollocks, amazing that anyone falls for his shtick.
