Lifts / added height in boxing boots
I'm not sure why I thought of this..... but what are (if any) rules on whether a fighter can have lifts - even just a lot of insoles etc in their boots? Does anyone check the boots?
I'm not talking 5 inch thick heels, which will twist your ankles.... but say 1 inch shouldn't cause problems and could be a decent advantage...

Re: Lifts / added height in boxing boots
From personal experience boxing boots are very flat soled and I assume are that way for a reason. I don't think they make then with 'lifts'. That's for press conferences and head to heads. It's when you get in the ring that you see true height difference.
I don't think an inch in height makes that much difference anyway, does it?
I've seen Haye and RJJ wear trainers in the ring. That probably added an inch.

Sounds like the voice of experience there, mate. Do you want to talk about itreggaereggae wrote:I'm not talking 5 inch thick heels, which will twist your ankles....

A pair of flat boots, providing you can get traction, allow you to generate better power in your shots than spongy trainers, you get a way better connnection with the ground. Same with lifting weights. I don't know how anyone can wear Nikes for lifts like squats and deadlifts, feels alien to me and unsafe.

It is something more associated with WWE wrestling than boxing as far as I am aware.
Not sure what advantages they would give a boxer to be honest.

It's reach not height which gives you the advantage in boxing.

Not sure. Sounds a bit of a strange thing to do. I've heard of trainers wearing lifts on the pads if they're man is up against a taller opponent.

I imagine Coldwell needs stilts to do pads with PriceStuarty30 wrote:Not sure. Sounds a bit of a strange thing to do. I've heard of trainers wearing lifts on the pads if they're man is up against a taller opponent.

They are boxers out there with flat feet that need insoles, in their boxing boots or specially made boots, otherwise they can have balance issues.

I feel like boxing on stilts could be an untapped market.
Re: Lifts / added height in boxing boots
The disadvantages probably normally outweigh the advantage, the extra weight will slow your feet.

Coupled with a high belt & you'd be unbeatable.Boxerbeetle wrote:I feel like boxing on stilts could be an untapped market.

It would be counter productive.
Boxing boots have very thin soles to prevent turning the ankle when making quick changes in direction.
Even normal trainers are a disadvantage when training and especially sparring as you can easily 'fall off' them.
I had a pair of the RJJ Jordan boxing boots and they were terrible as they were heavy and the heels were like normal trainers, well, basketball boots I guess.

I have plantar fasciitis and these shoes help a lot. I still have some heel pain but it's much better than before. I didn't have to my custom orthotics as the Orthofeet shoes come with very comfortable insoles. I am impressed!!!
