Canelo to GGG "He needs to work his way up. He needs to earn his shot."

Post by apollo creed »

"Look, I've fought the best, I've never been afraid of anyone. You look at my last ten opponents compared to his last ten opponents and you guys can see. There is no reason to be afraid of him," Canelo said.

"If it was really about business or it was really about money, then we would have done it already because a lot of people want to see the fight. He needs to work his way up. He needs to earn his shot."

"He has to fight someone who can complicate him, someone who has skills. Yeah has all of these knockouts - but who has he fought? [He's fought] opponents that are right there to be hit."

This is becoming a silly joke. Canelo is defending his middleweight WBC strap against a welter at the weight of 155 lbs and he's telling his No 1. mandatory challenger in Golovkin to earn his shot.

Canelo is a coward until he signs to fight Golovkin, and I lose respect for him by the day every time he says some sh*t like this.

Also Oscar De La Hoya tried to say that Khan is the favorite in the fight this weekend

It's getting beyond a joke, mandatory that hasn't earned his shot! But they would fight him at 155. What does the weight have to do with earning your shot, it's the most blatant duck in recent times, he's a disgrace along with oscar

Canelo certainly has the more impressive record, but this is rubbish.

Well canelo has laid out his position. Seems like they might offer golovkin a fight at 156 or 157 and then if ggg refuses vacate.
At that point canelo would lose all credibibilty as a middleweight champion.

Wow, how they can offer up that insanely idiotic blather the week of his "middleweight championship" fight against Amir Khan is pretty special...

It's boxers who get hit in the head for a living...NOT boxing fans...

Canelo is a funny guy. And I mean funny haha, not funny peculiar. Seriously, he should become a stand up comedian after GGG gives him a career ending beat down.

Oscar De La Hoya put those words in Canelo's mouth. Oscar predicted his Middleweight Champion David Lemieux would "Knock Golovkin cold" ... What a freakin' jerk that MFer is. Now Oscar is saying Golovkin is ducking Hopkins -- and Hopkins is saying Golovkin is ducking Kovalev.. The ONLY thing Golovkin wanted for the last 7 years... other than a fight with Floyd at 154 for FLOYD'S WORD TITLE at that weight... and acclimation fights at 168 that he's repeatedly tried to make with Oosthuizen, Rodriguez, Chavez, and Froch as a prep for Ward... are ALL the Middleweight belts -- especially the Lineal belt that has eluded him for 6 years because the WBC keeps allowing "exceptions" for a price... Khan is just the latest... WTF has Amir Khan done to deserve a Lineal Middleweight Title shot??????

Not surprised. Canelo will duck GGG for at least a couple more years.

He's done nothing to deserve it, has never fought in the division before but he is small and has a weak chin so Canelo can chase him around weighing 30lb more looking like a killer, pity it's just an illusion

That's right; the world's actual best MIDDLEWEIGHT has to work his way up to earn a shot at the world 155lb champion! :oo :shame:

The only thing GGG may lose from all this diva behaviour is the pay day against Canelo. Fans know GGG wants to clear up at 160 and doesn't care who he fights as long as he gets all the belts so why does he need to accept team Canelo's bullsh*t weight demands. WBC will enforce this fight next so Canelo needs to accept it at 160 and make this mega fight for the fans or vacate and lose the respect of the boxing community for thinking he's bigger than the sport. Yes his resume is better than Golovkin's but that's cause most of the division is running scared of the man.

Khan vs Canelo is the Floyd Sweepstakes fight. I think that the winner has the best shot to land #50 with Floyd. If Floyd can grab #50 and win the Middleweight strap at the same time, that would be the way he would go.

Who has he fought Canelo?

Middleweights that's who.

Canelo should try that out rather than fighting Welterweights to work his way up to MW from Canelo weight.

As suggested by Saul I've looked at their last 10 opponents. I'd pick many more of Golovkin's opponents to win if matched.

Wade v Khan
Lemieux v Cotto
Monroe Jr v Lara
Murray v Angulo
Rubio v Mayweather
Geale v Trout
Adama v Lopez
Stevens v Mosley
Macklin v Cintron
Ishida v Gomez

There's every reason to be afraid of him Canelo... You haven't fought one guy who can box and punch except the miniature and very short Cotto.. Mayweather and Lara boxed your ass off and you had the judges in your pocket versus Lara.. Khan can't box and can't punch, plus he's a Welterweight.. You are cherry-picking boy.. Nobody on your list is as formidable as Gennady Golovkin.

It's not WHO GGG has fought.. It's the guys who've DUCKED him because they don't want to get cold cocked.. GGG has been after the Lineal Middleweight Title and the top Middleweights for many years. He SHOULD have gotten his Lineal Title shot 6 years ago after he entered the ring as the #1 Middleweight Contender and knocked out 21-1 Milton Nunez for the interim WBA World Middlweight Title 44 seconds into the 1st round.

If Khan wins (unlikely) then possibly. An Alvarez win changes nothing for him in relation to Mayweather. Garcia is the easy fight to make, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's used to launch PBC part 2...

There's no way Floyd takes a fight with Danny Garcia. Too much power in his left hand. That punch is a game changer, I don't care who he lands that thing on. It's pretty deadly. BUT, he has looked pretty ordinary in his last several fights so maybe Floyd's seeing something he likes but I think the chances are slim that Floyd rolls the dice with him. You got me thinking though.

Canelo is a manufactured protected fraud who will be protected by corruption manipulation and whatever it takes - Oscar wants to keep Canelo on a safe win streak to make a ton of $ - and he will - just like corrupt Haymon did with Floyd - EVERYBODY knows Canelo will lose by brutal KO to GGG and that will end Canelo as a $ maker and end Golden Boy's long term plans which are to manufacture Ducknelo into the next Chavez or Floyd like cash cow -

Haymon is the boss and Haymon can easily manipulate Garcia to play soft on Floyd for a nice bonus - just like Haymon and Espinoza manipulated Canelo to go soft on Floyd -
