Floyd Mayweather is reportedly set for a sensational return to the ring - against Conor McGregor.
Mayweather, 39, is on the verge of agreeing a deal which will see him step out of retirement and into the richest fight in boxing history against UFC upstart McGregor.
Mayweather, who calls himself The Best Ever, was widely-recognised as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world before walking away from the sport last September.
And according to the Sun, he is now set to earn £100million for a Las Vegas mega-match with McGregor, known as Notorious, with just the purse agreement and paperwork to be signed before an announcement in the coming weeks.
Surely this is too farcical, even for Floyd? MacGregor isn't even a boxer, there is no way he should be granted a licence to fight anyone beyond an old journeyman for his boxing debut, nevermind one of the greatest fighters of all time. Knowing Floyd though he'll have the licencing board in his pocket like he has WADA so it wouldn't surprise me if this nonsense came to fruition.
in the paper the date is stated as 2 may. written and update on may 6. makes no sense.
sure floyd could fight conor in boxing and make 100 m, just because conor is a known celebrity. but it would be more wwe, than real boxing, cause in the boxing ring conor is no opponent for floyd, but people would tune in, just out of interrest. the hype, media and trash talking skills would be on another level haha...i would watch that sh/(t wwe

McGregor could use a steel chair and he still wouldn't win a round.

to make things a litle bit more interresting he should fight conor with conors current weight. floyd 154 and conor what he walks around right now, guess 170. floyd would still win, at least conor would have a 1 % punchers chance with a hayemaker haha....like back ni the old ufc days when a light heavyweight vitor belfort fought a heavyweight tank abbot and still fu/()d him up

Hasn't Floyd literally been involved with WWE before? But I think he should go against a real challenge like Z-Money, see if he can avenge the loss his father suffered at his hands.
Hopefully there is no truth in this! As the OP said, greatest fighter of a generation up against a guy who hasn't had a pro fight? Beggars belief. Money talks so nothing surprises me anymore but this would be nothing more than a glorified exhibition and a total circus. A top amatuer would whip McGregor in a boxing match never mind Floyd fuckin Mayweather!
Conor is contractually obliged to the UFC, and I'm sure that would prohibit him from participating in a boxing match...
However, if the contract was no dispute, I could definitely see both of these guys doing something like this. Doesn't matter how circus sideshow it is... if it brings in dollars, that's all these guys care about.

well- conor couldnt care less. he gets like 1 million per fight in the ufc. every ufc fighter is underpaid.
he would easily make around 20 million against floyd. cause even if it is a circus freak show, a lot of people would buy ppy.

I would rather see this fight rather than Andre Berto.
You would rather see him fight a guy that's not had a pro fight than fight an ex world champion? If you think the Berto fight was bad then you're not going to like watching him fight a novice.

No doubt he would spank Mac. The fight itself won't be great......but seeing a ton of MMA fans dreams crushed would be awesome.

Yeah I have a couple of MMA fan mates. Shutting up the constant stream of piss that they talk would be nice.

Do they think Conor would actually beat Floyd in a boxing match?
This obviously isn't real. Dana white is a control freak it would be literally impossible to negotiate as long as he's still conor s boss.
Besides, conor got choked the fornicate out and no longer has that invincible "0". There is no more hype. Now he's just some ufc guy till he does something amazing, nate is the man now.

Not really but they seem to think he'll be 'competitive'. He'll get completely clowned and more than likely stopped in a one sided beating. I just hope the reports today are false.
I find Boxing fans to be much more ridiculous with their MMA hate, most MMA fans, like the rest of america, don't pay much attention to Boxing. Not sure why anyone finds this plausible, nobody would buy this as a Boxing match. It would sell less than Berto and McGregor is locked down to the UFC anyway.

Which one? Floyd would make 9 figures and I would think Conor would be paid at least 20 million?? His biggest payday of his career?
Neither, by their usual standards. You think someone would pay Floyd 100 million to Box someone that isn't a Boxer? And McGregor 20 million for his pro debut?
