In other good news, the woman he allegedly assaulted said her webcam business has been booming with all this publicity

Now hopefully fights with good opponents.
Re: Jamie Cox wins appeal
The article I read says that the sentence has been suspended - not that's he's been acquitted. Admittedly it was on the Daily Mail website so could well be wrong - but they are two very different things.

Daily Mail says that on some days Cox sent 600 text messages a DAY. Over a twelve hour period that's 50 per hour. If true, I think Jamie needs some guidance.

He won his appeal against his prison sentence. The guilty verdict still stands - he just won't serve any (additional) prison time.
I'd be surprised if the BBBOC let him fight in the next 6 months.

BBC news said the same. The conviction stands but sentence suspended for 18 months.magnus wrote:The article I read says that the sentence has been suspended - not that's he's been acquitted. Admittedly it was on the Daily Mail website so could well be wrong - but they are two very different things.
So he has to behave. Or else.....
Re: Jamie Cox wins appeal
So he hasn't been acquitted of anything, merely had his sentence reduced.

Re: Jamie Cox wins appeal
So he probably can't box under BBBoC for couple of years then

600 a day , that's extreme whichever way you spin it.Black Sam Bellamy wrote:Daily Mail says that on some days Cox sent 600 text messages a DAY. Over a twelve hour period that's 50 per hour. If true, I think Jamie needs some guidance.

Re: Jamie Cox wins appeal
I've not read the updated articles, but if he appealed against conviction, there is no way possible that it would have been overturned this early. They would need to run a retrial, look at and hear all the evidence again with whatever else the defence team wanted to add within reason.
If it was an appeal against the sentence, then yes that could have been heard by now. The judges simply need to review the case and compare it to sentencing guidelines.
If he has had the sentence suspended, he would not be able to box on bbbofc shows until the sentence has elapsed.

So I've been duped and he's not been acquitted. If I ever need a Goebbels in my life, Talkischeap will be first on the list.

Re: Jamie Cox wins appeal
he doesn't come out of this well at all, sounds a very nasty episode.
Re: Jamie Cox wins appeal
This has been established as being incorrect.Talkischeap wrote:Jamie Cox won appeal and has been aquitted of assault
Still guilty but jail sentence suspended for 18 months - does this mean that he cannot box for 18 months (t will be interesting to see how the board apply their rules on this one - they seem to be applied quite strictly when the boxer isn't a "name" with a powerful promoter).
Either way, reading the actual facts (number of calls made and evidence from the operator who took the emergency call etc.) he is clearly not a full shilling.
Moral question of the week : if you went to meet your daughters boyfriend for the first time and saw Cox and Joshua both sat there, who would you be hoping for ?
