Boxing fans love blogs. The big money maker on this is the dude who might have snagged $100 for a record number of hits on his bullshit.gilgamesh wrote:If people really think this is gonna happen they're easily fooled. No chance this happens

I know nothing of the contracts in UFC but I imagine Dana White would sell his children to be involved in an event like this.Impractical Poster wrote:Highly suspect...
Conor is contractually obliged to the UFC, and I'm sure that would prohibit him from participating in a boxing match...
However, if the contract was no dispute, I could definitely see both of these guys doing something like this. Doesn't matter how circus sideshow it is... if it brings in dollars, that's all these guys care about.

Yeah i can imagine Dana slabbering at the thought of being a co-promoter for a Floyd fight.SNG wrote:I know nothing of the contracts in UFC but I imagine Dana White would sell his children to be involved in an event like this.Impractical Poster wrote:Highly suspect...

I'd rather pay PPV money to see a triple threat hell in the cell match between Mayweather, McGregor and Triple H. Than Mayweather Vs McGregor in a boxing match.

Conor is under a UFC contract. As far as I'm aware, UFC contracts preclude fighters from doing boxing or kickboxing without permission. As Conor's having a tiff with the UFC, I'm pretty sure that if this fight was signed that the UFC would have an injunction in place faster than you can blink.
Re: Mayweather vs UFC loser McGregor!?
The UFC took their biggest draw off their biggest ever show, costing themselves millions and millions of dollars in the process, just to prove a point. They aren't going to let Conor violate his UFC contract and get beat up by Floyd in a boxing match. Promoting one Mayweather fight isn't worth it.Ricky_ wrote:Yeah i can imagine Dana slabbering at the thought of being a co-promoter for a Floyd fight.SNG wrote:I know nothing of the contracts in UFC but I imagine Dana White would sell his children to be involved in an event like this.Impractical Poster wrote:Highly suspect...

Dana White is the face of the UFC (and he owns about 10%) but the majority owners are billionaires who are worth a lot more than Floyd Mayweather. They were, rumour has it, in sale talks a while back and wanted six billion dollars. A piece of one Mayweather boxing match won't motivate them to damage their brand.
Even more important than the potential damage to the brand is the precedent this would set. It would mean their biggest draw and most recognizable name is violating his contract and fighting in a massive super fight. From the UFC's point of view, what are their contracts worth if they don't enforce them?
I'm sure that they would love to promote an MMA fight with Mayweather. Floyd's too smart for that though.

Fair enough points, out of interest though, how sure can you be CMcG's contract forbids him in participating in a boxing bout? It is another sport afterall. Would be like a clause stating he cannot switch careers. Hope he doesn't have any ambitions to play tennis etc...

I don't get it - is it to be boxing or UFC? If it's the latter mayweather doesn't have a prayer.

It's in there for sure. It's been a stumbling block during contract negotiations in the past. Sambo, K-1 and boxing all come to mind. The UFC does generally allow it's fighters to compete in grappling tournaments but that's about it.Ricky_ wrote:nfc90210 wrote:

Re: Mayweather vs UFC loser McGregor!?
Any knowledgeable boxing fan who has watched Conor McGregor in the UFC understands that he has first class hands, some of the best in his sport. He won the Irish National's 16 & under & I'm sure he would have won the senior/open championship if he continued. Fighters from Crumlin Gym in Ireland speak highly of him. The Irish program is one of the best in Europe and is leaps & bounds better than USA (amateur) Boxing. Taking that into consideration..........He has no business stepping into the ring with Floyd Mayweather. MMA is miles behind boxing in regards to striking with the hands. A good percentage of MMA fighters still do not know how to throw a proper punch (take a look at the Chris Weidman punch that knocked out Anderson Silva for a good example). McGregor might even have the talent to become a championship caliber boxer but it would take a good half dozen years to hone that craft. If Conor had faster hands than Floyd (he does not), better foot movement (no), better technical skills, longer reach, greater power, & stamina, he still couldn't hang with Mayweather because Mayweather is a professional boxer. Muscle memory alone would leave Conor at a huge disadvantage. Anyone who has ever sparred with MMA fighters has seen that they cannot help but revert to their base/core. They still attempt half hearted takedowns & use their legs in rare instances. That would get McGregor hurt in a boxing match vs. FMJ. Tom Brady cannot take the mound for the Red Sox and throw a no hitter in his first ever appearance; it's a different sport. Same goes for boxing & MMA.
The odds for this mythical match opened at
-Mayweather 1:20
-McGregor. 9:1
My odds would have been
-Mayweather 1:100
-McGregor. 35:1

Did McG actually win a national boxing title? I thought there was no evidence of it, and surely it wouldn't be too hard to prove if true.

Re: Mayweather vs UFC loser McGregor!?
For the sake of boxing Floyd would have to dominate him. Floyds gotta end it by KO and early then hopefully Floyd who is without class anyway, does 20 push ups to rub it in. Because I love boxing more than MMA (I watch some UFC) I want a demonstration where you can't just cut in line and go straight to a champion boxer and put up a decent fight.Wales wrote:Don't think for second it'll happen BUT if it did it would hit crazy numbers.foxdog1923 wrote:No one in their right mind will pay PPV rates to watch an accomplished boxer like Floyd fight a novice.
Can you imagine the MMA fans if Conor goes all the rounds? They'll laugh at boxing.
Re: Mayweather vs UFC loser McGregor!?
McGregor weighs 145 and fought a guy in the 170 pound division who enters the octagon at 190... so he's not too bright. I think he'd be a better boxer than an MMA guy. He's a southpaw with terrific striking ability and he's very quick. Keith Thurman also said he'd be a good boxer if he went that way because of his speed and punching ability. Obviously this fight is baloney and he has a contract with Dan White and can only fight for UFC.

Re: Mayweather vs UFC loser McGregor!?
I doubt Diaz has weighed 190 pounds in his life He fights at 155 and competes in triathlons between fights so doesn't balloon up. McGregor fought at 145 where he was noticeably larger than any of his competition and has been quoted on numerous occasions about the difficulty he has getting down to 145. Diaz himself stated that he offered to make 155 for the first fight and the UFC told him not to worry about cutting, they could fight at 170. They subsequently weighed in at 168 and 169 respectively. This idea that Diaz was a much larger opponent is nonsense spouted by the UFC and pure damage control.Kalan wrote:McGregor weighs 145 and fought a guy in the 170 pound division who enters the octagon at 190... so he's not too bright. He didn't have a 0 before the loss to Diaz, he'd already lost twice before.Cygnus475 wrote:This obviously isn't real. Dana white is a control freak it would be literally impossible to negotiate as long as he's still conor s boss.
Besides, conor got choked the eff out and no longer has that invincible "0". There is no more hype. Now he's just some ufc guy till he does something amazing, nate is the man now.
Re: Mayweather vs UFC loser McGregor!?
Mayweather would stay away and make it REALLY, REALLY boring. Then laugh at everyone and take more selfies with money.
