Think Luscombe is Mike Ruddock's love child - how is he still in the reckoning is beyond me. Decent club man, but was the weak man last year and looks the same in his new position.nickd wrote:Thomas is great in the centre no doubt about it, is Byrne good enough to fill his boots at fullback though? I am not convinced of that yet, and Ruddock can't be either or Thomas would surely have played centre the last couple of games if that was the case.
off topic the Boxrec official rugby thread.
THOUGHT THE REF KILLED THE GAME.
yes the letter of the law but if you apply that to every sitation all we get is a series of whistles for folk being taken out off the ball, slowing it down etc etc etc.
a penatly reversal and a yellow card and no yellow for the welshman is enough in my opinion.
England fwell intot he trap Italy set them, instead of spinnign it we tryu to bash our way through though I woundt be that jubilant if I were stillto play them, reckon they could still turn someone over be it sctos qwelsh or a disinterested french side.
the french iove never seen two dispoerate halve of rugby EVER.
marvoulous followed by crap.
thats the french though hey.

We showed glimpses of last years form yesterday, although they took their eye off the ball towards the end the game was well won by that point. I cant say enough good things about Peel, he looks to me like he'll go on to be one of our best ever backs and that is saying something in fact he is not far off that at the moment. I speculated last week he was becoming the best scrum half in the world, I'm now convinced he is - I cant think of anyone better in that position right now.
Kicking or stamping is a red card offence it says so in black and white, although it might have ruined the game a little the ref had little choice.

SORRY LOFTGROOV MATE VERY BUSY THIS WEEK POSTING IN HASTE!
Nick i see where you are coming from but in my mind it was more of a reaction and not intentional there is big difference kicking out and meaning to stamp on somone;'s head at a ruck having pre meditated it.
So lewis moody gets a (correct) ban for blatent punching but the samoan guy who threw as many punches gets fornicate all?
Henson gets 9 weeks, umaga didnt even get cited for fornicating over o driscoll..
its becoming a farce and one that needs to stop.
theres lots of double standards going on at the moment in the citing and reffing of the game, lets not forget a good ref you hardly notice, same as boxing, the twat we had on sun was far too conspicous and he always is.
if we arent careful we will turn rugby the same way as soccer.
For the record i thought Hensons ban was shocking as well, totally ridiculous, the argie bloke took him out of the ball and got what he deserved elbow in the chops and little flick kick that was not harmful to anyone. I mean come on 9 weeks for that is a joke..someone takes you out off the ball you twat em and get on with the game and so it has been for over 100 years.
I felt murray was unlucky, a straight red for that was harsh new laws or not..
lets not water down the game so much that it becomes a sanitised shadow of its former self.

?I know shit all about Rugby, but as the game grows in popularity on TV and gets more coverage it is only to be expected that the people in charge of the game come down harder on infringements. The same was true with football, which has become pretty much non contact these days, whlist 20 years ago, shoulder barges, and two footed tackles were commonplace.
It's the desire to place finesse above brute force in both games, which ultimately is not a bad thing I think. Rugby will always be phsyical, but I guess they want to see a more free flowing and running based game which has a broader appeal to the masses than great lumps mashing into one another.

thats right james you know fornicate all about rugby so shut up
in serioussness the odd punch up is part of the game and one that i used to relish it as part and parcel of playing and has been for 100 years.
the ref getting so involved spoils the flow of the game and in sundays instance ended the contest effectively.
That cant be good.
If you see players they never get pissed at getting the odd slap, its the pulling of bollox and gouging that goes on that sends people lappy.
now if you end eveything underground into the heart of rucks and mauls and this is the only manner of retribution the players can take, you will see an increase in it. Especially from the the french. :x
better to slapped and get on with the game than have a bollock removed in my book any day.

I think the bet was he'd rip his bollocks off if Wales beat England last year. I'm sure that was it. What a lunatic. Us Welsh have big bollocks aswell that would have taken some serious restitching.Max Molyneux wrote:Haha I read in one of my fortean times mags that a welsh guy made a bet saying if his team lost he's rip off his nuts and did!![]()
He was standing there with his nuts in his hand and blood just poring from his crotch to show he did it!

the french are renowned for doing so.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Good god! They try and pull eachothers bollocks off?
its not unheard of think about it its not that different to a low blow in boxing a quick tug on knackers.
people do get quite upset at that though and the perpatraitor tends to be very slow getting up from the next ruck.
Well said, They have softened the game up heaps over here as well, Nothing better than watching two 120 Kg men throwing punchesJ wrote:To be honest he didnt deserve any ban, bloke took him out off the ball and got what he deserved.
guess the game has moved on since i played it ten years ago but fuckinell its a mans game.
we used to sort it all out ourselves on the pitch.

we used to sort it all out ourselves on the pitch.. There are to many limp wristed softcocks in this world today and they are wrecking great sports like Rugby.

I got gouged Saturday. I did not appreciate it. I look like I'm half-man, half-panda right now. The ref had totally lost control of the match and there were cheap shots all over the place. Cheap shots, I know, are part of the game, but gouging and bag snatching are two things that have such serious repercussions for life beyond the 80 minutes that does make me cross
