Young Stribling has been my favorite old timer for years. He fought in virtually every weight class and would take on anyone, anywhere. He fought at every weight class from 128 to heavyweight, and performed well in all of them. Not many guys that started at 128 could give guys like Max Schmeling and Jack Sharkey tough fights, but Stribling did.

B.B. your given ole Expug way too much credit for being smart enough to think up something like that.BoxBuzz wrote:Hey I'm not fallin for this one. If I tell you, then when I speak of this fighter in the forum people will suspect I'm not always fair and balanced in my opinions. And as everyone knows, such is not the case.
So no dice.

My 5 favorite fighters were:
1. Roberto Duran: Boyhood hero
2. Muhammad Ali: Everybody, almost everybody loved this guy
3. Sugar Ray Leonard
4. Eusebio Pedroza
5. Julio Cesar Chavez
My other favorites were: Bobby Chacon, James Toney, Mike Tyson (the 80s version that kicked your ass as fast that you can read this and kissed you go home) Riddick Bowe

I just want to ask something which I find quite baffling. When people put their favorite boxers I would assume they are doing so because of watching them box and getting to know and like the fighter during interviews etc etc. I also think who you watch as a kid tends to sway your opinions. So what I don't understand is why people choose fighters who they are unlikely to have seen all their fights or were not born when they fought, well unless they are 100+!
I'm not knocking anyone's choices but could people who have chosen people who they couldn't have seen all their fights or were not born when they fought, why they have chosen them. Barry why for example have you chosen alot of the guys on your list? And I'm not starting trouble!!!
It seems to me people have chosen people because of their records and because of what they have heard about them rather than who they have seen.

In many ways it's easier to like someone you've never seen or who it is diffcult to find out about. Also the eras themselves add a lot to these legends.
