He might not be everyones cup of tea but I do love a chinny boxer.
Hearns, Maccarinelli & Khan are all decent blokes who could bang a bit & were always a punch away from DOOM.
It must take massive bollocks to fight knowing that & even bigger Jacobs moving up two(ish) weights to fight one of the top two/three P4P fighters in the world.
So here's the Official Good Effort Amit Khan Thread
While we're at it let's big up Matthew Hatton for going the distance with Alvarez and Ryan Rhodes who got floored in the 4th but dug in and lasted until the 12th round.
Good on him for trying, but I just hope he doesn't spend the next 18 months lying idle before announcing he's secured a shot at Adonis Stevenson!
He needs to get back down to 147 as he does not belong in the 'Miguel Cotto/Saul Alvarez 155 Club', but the problem for him is what can he do next?
He's not established at 147 & has repeatedly claimed that Brook is not in his class, despite it being a ready made fight for him.
Unless he is prepared to eat humble pie & give Brook the chance to fight someone who isn't dead, he's going to have to knuckle down, fight regularly & actually prove that he belongs in the mix at the top of the 147lb class.

I never liked this match up for Khan from the get-go. The fact he was only ever going to be one punch away from being wiped out by a much bigger and heavier punching man was only going to result in one outcome - nearly everyone predicted this. I feel sad for Khan.
I just hope that Khan hasnt suffered any lasting damage. His head smashed onto the canvas in a sickening fashion and i only hope that he feels his pay packet is sufficent compensation.
Khan's knockout loss to Garcia was nearly four years ago now. He needs to stop making excuses and get back to welterweight and fight Garcia or Brook.
Khan trying to act as Brook's promoter is simply arrogant and it is obvious that a defeat to Brook at welterweight would end Khan's career. If Brook is so easy to beat then Khan should fight him and make a career high payday in front of a career high audience. The fight will be huge in England and generate mega money - i just dont see why this fight hasnt been made.

I think that's the last we have seen of him to be honest.
Spot on. Khan will be sorely missed when he's gone, and history will be kind to him despite the losses because of his excellent resume and his entertainment factor.

Isnt Brook in the "who needs him club" though unlike Khan?
I think Brook and Hearn are genuinely keen as mustard for a big name fight. But unlike Khan, Brook is probably viewed as a tougher opponent. Least with Khan you have the chance and potential of switching his lights off at any time with one solid punch.

Am I missing something with the quality of his opposition and following through on fighting the best?
Is he going to canelo to the list of Garcia and Prescott who only beat him with a lucky punch?

Off the top of my head, he's beaten Maidana, Alexander, Collazo, Malignaggi & Judah. That's a solid set of wins. Obviously he's also faced (and been beaten by) Canelo, Garcia & Peterson. How many other British fighters have similar resumes?
Credit to him for taking the chance. The fight went how I thought it would. Khan looked good then panicked as soon as Canelo found his timing. I enjoyed Hunters comments to Canelo. If that fight doesn't happen next then we know why. Canelo seems to want it so let's see what happens. GGG stops him late IMO.

Maidana & malignaggi I'll give you but Collazo, Alexander and Judah were way past their peak.
It's not a bad record but it's not a murderers row of opponents

What were they mate?
Kellerman was interviewing Khan and Hunter interrupted and said something along the lines of 'Khan took the chance and stepped up now he (Canelo) has to show what he's made of and fight GGG' Kellerman then asked him why he felt so strongly about Canelo fighting GGG and he said something like 'they made all the rules with us and we stepped up, now he has to'
I think he was just frustrated at Canelo and his team setting the catch weight and calling all the shots. Fair point. The fight apparently has to be agreed within 40 days or it goes to purse bids and Canelo will be stripped if he fails to agree the fight and rightly so.

I'll believe it when I see it but the thing is he's been backed in to a corner now and a lot of folk from Canelos camp are going to look stupid if it doesn't happen. GGG would wipe the floor with him.

Total respect for Khan. The boy is a true fighter he will get in a ring with anyone and believes he an beat anyone. Folk can call him "chinny"? Watch his fight with Maidana again and see how "chinny" he is.
No shame in getting KOd by Canelo.
Khan, like Froch will retire knowing EXACTLY how good he is because he's tested himself to the limit against all comers.
Carl Frampton and Kell Brook and all these other "champions" are so risk averse they'll never know how good they were because all they are interested in protecting their value.

Always liked Hunter
Yeah he's like the generic type of motivational coach you see in cheesy American sports films! Plus he's like Samuel L Jackson. Doesn't look the type to take any pish off anyone.

I think he will have to fight him, he'll be branded a coward by his own countrymen if he doesn't.
