After his comments last night he has to. I just don't see how he gets round it without looking a total bottle merchant. I think Canelo would take the fight. It's Oscar and the other greedy pudenda around him that don't want it to happen because they know what's gonna happen.Nightmare Roy wrote:I think he will have to fight him, he'll be branded a coward by his own countrymen if he doesn't.Stuarty30 wrote:I'll believe it when I see it but the thing is he's been backed in to a corner now and a lot of folk from Canelos camp are going to look stupid if it doesn't happen. There was a new guy the other day that had a suspicious whiff of the Horse about him too!Counter-puncher wrote:Sisyphus wrote:There's something sinister about him.Counter-puncher wrote: Always liked Hunter

Algieri, Collazo, salita, mccloskey etc were all about showing how good he was rather than protecting his value!Supremo wrote:Total respect for Khan. No shame in getting KOd by Canelo.
Khan, like Froch will retire knowing EXACTLY how good he is because he's tested himself to the limit against all comers.
Carl Frampton and Kell Brook and all these other "champions" are so risk averse they'll never know how good they were because all they are interested in protecting their value.

Alvarez was the 13th world champion he's fought in his career, our 12 current world champions have fought 18 between them.Boxerbeetle wrote:Off the top of my head, he's beaten Maidana, Alexander, Collazo, Malignaggi & Judah. Spot on. Khan will be sorely missed when he's gone, and history will be kind to him despite the losses because of his excellent resume and his entertainment factor.
Is he going to canelo to the list of Garcia and Prescott who only beat him with a lucky punch?
Completely agree. I hope he has a long happy retirement. Always respected the way appealed to everyone as a 17yr old kid in some MAJOR limelight — the only boxer we sent to the Olympics that year.....in an era with religious nonsense going on - terrorism mugs. And on top of that the kid had flair, skill and a set of cojones we couldn’t have predicted.Naandrew wrote:Just watched the fight he was well into it until the sickening Ko punch.
Slate Khan all you want but at least he shows a desire to fight the best and follows through unlike certain fighters in this country.
I think that's the last we have seen of him to be honest.
All about timing though. I'd say Alvarez, Garcia and Peterson were at or near their best.expe wrote:Alvarez was the 13th world champion he's fought in his career, our 12 current world champions have fought 18 between them.Boxerbeetle wrote:Off the top of my head, he's beaten Maidana, Alexander, Collazo, Malignaggi & Judah. Sadly that stat is meaningless without context... For example, how many reigning world champions has Khan fought? If any of them werent reigning world champions, how long prior to fighting khan were they last world champion? what were the ages of those world champions (or ex world champions) when khan fought them? What weight division did khan fight the ex world champion in and what weight division did the ex-world champion win their title in? Etc etc...expe wrote:Alvarez was thae 13th world champion he's fought in his career, our 12 current world champions have fought 18 between them.Boxerbeetle wrote:Off the top of my head, he's beaten Maidana, Alexander, Collazo, Malignaggi & Judah. I've seen figures of $9m for canelo and $5m for Khan.Webbo911 wrote:Anybody know how much he got paid?
Uk papers were talking crazy numbers. Think the commentary team mentioned $6 million.
Either way with what he's already earned before last night he can retire a happy man if he chooses.
I'd love to see him win a big, career defining fight before he called it a day though.
I'd favour Brook over Khan but not by loads. Garcia rematch would be tough but it's definitely winnable.
Yeah Brook has proved more than willing to fight the best throughout his career, his resume is incredible.Switch hitter wrote:Well Khan hasn't tested himself against Brook has he....I'm sure Brook is more than willingSupremo wrote:Total respect for Khan.
