Down the line Spence's and Canelo's pathes gonne cross
canelo is 154 king, spence will become 147 king. spence is tall strong natural welterweight, for him no problem to make 154 in 1-2 years, even middleweight would be okay for spence, since like i said he is no timmy, he aint no small welter guy. he got middleweight kind of power, just liek thurman has. add to that his athletiscm and long reach and you got a boxer who can easily jump 1-2 division to get the mega fight a la canelo. what is your take? who would win, etc? imagine CANELO VS SPENCE JR 5.5.2018, wouldnt that look great on a poster.
Re: Down the line Spence's and Canelo's pathes gonne cross
I'd be very surprised if Canelo could make 154 in two years time. Infact I'll put my neck on the line and say there's no chance he makes that weight. He was reported to be 175 in the ring last night after weighing in at 155. I think he'd make it just now but I think he'd struggle tbh.
Re: Down the line Spence's and Canelo's pathes gonne cross
Spence has a lot of work to do at 147 to be king. Probably take him 3 years to get the top guys to fight him. Spence will be competitive at whatever weight he is at, but a fight like that is probably way down the road, or unlikely.

3 years hahaha.....you joking right
spence is already #9 worldwide on boxrec. pacquiao is retired. porter/thurman is gonne come soon. amir is at 154 or will take a long break. there is only a small window of top welterweights like timmy, brook, thurman, porter, danny and spence. spence by easily beating algieri is right in the mix and gonne defeat any of those guys mentioned and he gonne face 2-3 of them in the next 18 month and by beating them considered #1.
Re: Down the line Spence's and Canelo's pathes gonne cross
Well lets see. Thurman vs Porter, if its close, we will see a rematch. (they already said they want to fight twice) He may be able to fight Brook by next year. If Khan gets KO'd by Garcia, he will probably retire, and even so won't fight Spence. Bradley would, but you have TR vs Haymon, so forget that. Garcia will fight him if Haymon lets him...so maybe next fall he will have fought two of them. Thurman already turned him down, Khan wanted no part of him. So yeah, about 3 years to fight them all. In the mean time he can fight gatekeepers Berto and Guerrero I guess.Chepppaaa wrote:Badhusker wrote:Spence has a lot of work to do at 147 to be king. sad that he is with haymon....the guy is to good for old guerrero etc..but you could be very true, maybe it will take a long time.
Re: Down the line Spence's and Canelo's pathes gonne cross
I should add though if he and Canelo did fight, it would be a very good fight. Not sure what weight Spence fought in amateurs, but know he did beat Julian Williams I'm pretty sure, (unless I am thinking of John Jackson) and he fights at a higher weight.
Re: Down the line Spence's and Canelo's pathes gonne cross
in terms if height, reach etc spence is perfect for higher divisions. but lets see how he would do against thurman & brook, he would be the favourite every time. damn, if he fought the charlo bros in 4 month notice i would even favour him over them
...now lara would be another ballgame hehe
Re: Down the line Spence's and Canelo's pathes gonne cross
That will happen in 5 years at the earliest... Spence is the likely winner... There's some explosive Welterweight Fights coming... Brook-Spence.. Thurman Porter.. Spence-Thurman.. Spence-Porter.. The 147 DUCK CLUB consists of Khan.. Bradley.. Pacquiao.. Maidana.. and Garcia.. If any of them ever fights Brook.. Spence.. Thurman.. or Porter - I'll be beyond amazed.
Three years ago people were telling me Floyd or Pacquiao are GOING to fight one of these young guys. I said "Don't make me laugh."

Haha when did Garcia grow some balls? After the Salka fight? Or after fighting that commentator Malignaggi? He don't want any part of Spence.Badhusker wrote:Well lets see. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Brook duck Bradley 2-3 years back saying he wasn't ready for a fight like that?Kalan wrote:That will happen in 5 years at the earliest... Thurman v Porter shouldn't be close. Not unless Thurman's still feeling his injuries (car accident). Spence is Brook's mandatory. So that fight should happen before this time next year. Garcia can't duck both Thurman and Spence (end of 2017). 2018 Thurman and Spence meet.Badhusker wrote:Well lets see. Thurman vs Porter, if its close, we will see a rematch. He must be terribly dehydrated at the weigh in, 25 lbs is a huge amount of water weight, 12 liters or so. That's a hell of a lot, cannot be good for you long term, no matter how carefully it is done.Stuarty30 wrote:I'd be very surprised if Canelo could make 154 in two years time. I wonder how reliable that 175 lb figure is though, what is the source for it?

HBO weigh them don't they? They always mention ring weights in commentary anyway.jamesmcdonnell wrote:He must be terribly dehydrated at the weigh in, 25 lbs is a huge amount of water weight, 12 liters or so. Ok, that's reliable I'd say then. Not heard HBO commentary for some time now, wasn't sure they still did it.SNG wrote:HBO weigh them don't they? To be fair, neither have i, I'm just assuming that's where it came from. They always used to do it.
Re: Down the line Spence's and Canelo's pathes gonne cross
I heard Bunce mention it but not sure where he got his info from. He didn't buy it and thought he'd be around 167-169. Either way I don't think we'll see him back at 154. It's GGG next or he's going to look a proper tool!jamesmcdonnell wrote:He must be terribly dehydrated at the weigh in, 25 lbs is a huge amount of water weight, 12 liters or so. Re: Down the line Spence's and Canelo's pathes gonne cross
Bunce was talking about his own people, they always claimed he weighed 175 come fight night. I've heard elsewhere he was 175, but nobody seems to have a verifiable source. I do have some doubts, 20 lbs is an awful lot of weight to put on in 36 hours. I have heard of similar figures in the past, but to do that routinely, that seems a bit much. 20 lbs is more than 10% of bodyweight for a guy weighing 175 on fight night, the vast majority of which is going to be water weight. That's taking you into the kind of territory where people can die. There may be an element of bollocks here.Stuarty30 wrote:I heard Bunce mention it but not sure where he got his info from. Canelo vs Angulo - 174
Canelo vs Trout - 172
He could have easily been above 175 in his last fights.

yeah, no way Canelo ever fights at 154 again.
