Thing is I'm not a hater. I was rooting for him at the weekend and I've spent my hard earned money to watch a number of his fights so you're way off the mark there. Against Garcia and Brook the same thing that happened at the weekend will happen again. Would an 'ATG' have struggled with Diaz and Algieri in his prime? Good fighter but far far far from an ATG. I honestly think you just like the attention when you come out with nonsense like this.Horse wrote:Khan should not retire. Amir Khan is not a great no matter what way you try and spin it. I've enjoyed watching him and used to be a fan. I've spent good money and travelled to see him a few times. Very good fighter but not great. He should walk away now with his head held high and his bank balance bulging. He should stay clear of Brook because another KO like the weekend won't do him any good.
If he wins then he should deal with the pretender named Brook.
Khan is a British ATG. Even his haters don't claim that he doesn't belong in the top 100 British ATG rankings.

Kell Brook is not in the same league of greatness as Amir Khan.Stuarty30 wrote:Thing is I'm not a hater. Please do not act like him beating Khan is a foregone conclusion.
Brook is not Alvarez. Brook is not even Garcia. Brook is a joker who only has a win over Porter to crow about.

When Bradley left the weight division Khan had already lost his belt to Peterson (who Bradley beat easily). A month later Khan lost again "at the weight".Anzi wrote:What are you on about ? his claim was that Khan was never the main man at a weight and he was when Bradley refused to fight him and instead moved up, you see when Bradley left the weight division, Khan was left has number one. Khan lost to Peterson who Bradley beat easily.
Bradley moved up unbeaten to win a belt at welter which he kept for nearly 2 years, whilst Khan got knocked out brutally "at the weight".
The facts don't add up to your claim.

His record does not reflect his talent. I thought with you being such a know it all you'd be able to see that. Brook KOs Khan every day of the week for me!Horse wrote:Kell Brook is not in the same league of greatness as Amir Khan.Stuarty30 wrote:Thing is I'm not a hater. Brook's a bully.
Brook's got a record that causes laughter and derision.
Brook's got nothing on Khan.

Re: Big Up - Amir Khan
I don`t see how Khan beats Brook. He aint got the power to stop him and Brook is a superior boxer in my opinion. It would be a great fight cos Khan`s speed would cause Brook problems, but Brook will get to him at some stage and stop him.
Khan is not an all time great. Hagler, Hearns, Duran and Chuck Gardner are all time greats. Not Khan.
Khan is a skilled gutsy boxer who has made a fortune from the sport and fair play to him. The only British boxer to go the Olympics in Athens and he came home with a silver after a terrific effort in the final at 17 years old. He had me on his side from that day on, but there is no way he is an all time great, let`s get real here.

I think a few other boxers, would have achieved more, if they where looked after as much as Khan has been, all of his career.

No one's saying that he's a world great.
Who's Chuck Gardner? That guy who lost to Frank Bruno?
Yes, he is.forcefraser wrote:Khan is a skilled gutsy boxer who has made a fortune from the sport and fair play to him. If they meet Brook wins by KO. I'm willing to do a bet with you if the fight happens. Horse, everyone can have an opinion, that and loose women is what makes life interesting.
Ok, you think Khan is an all time British great. I don`t. It`s not an issue. I think he`s an exciting fighter who`s limitations stopped him from being a great fighter.
I don`t think Brook is a all time British great either.
Froch, Lewis, Buchanan, Hamed, Calzaghe. They are all time British greats for me.
As for Chuck Gardner, he`s an All Time World great. Not for losing to Bruno, but for managing to get a license to fight at all.

Brook's currently one of the greatest clowns in British boxing history.forcefraser wrote:I don`t think Brook is a all time British great either.
That's a form of greatness.
They are world greats, not just British greats.forcefraser wrote:Froch, Lewis, Buchanan, Hamed, Calzaghe. They are all time British greats for me.
So how many British fighters qualify for greatness then?
Why are so many of the naysayers so unwilling to answer this question?
Re: Big Up - Amir Khan
I think Khan can be described as offensively one of the most impressive fighters that the country has produced.
However that has to be considered alongside the fact that he is suspectible to being wiped out by one single punch at any given time. Many of Khan's fights have been spectaculor, but unfortnunately for Khan, not always for the rights reasons.
Khan's last real meaningful title fight prior to last saturday night was against Garcia in 2012. For me Khan is not one of the great British fighters. For the record, imo Brook hasnt proven himself to be a great British fighter to date. I think Khan would pretty much box the head off Brook for 4/5 or 6 rounds before Brook would switch Khan's lights off with one punch.
This video is disturbing to watch in terms of Khan's inability to hold a punch:

How anyone can try to say Khan doesn't have a glass chin is beyond me; it's been evident since the very beginning. It's fvcking remarkable how he's been able to stay at world level for so long, he must have one of the most fragile chins in history.liamlion wrote: This video is disturbing to watch in terms of Khan's inability to hold a punch:

And that video didn't include him being hurt by a Prescott jab or rocked by featherfists Algeiri (but those shots would've hurt anyone!).

Still a British ATG though.

One day I might try to do a list of British ATGs and see if and/or where Khan fits into it. But today is not that day.

I find a tendency to second-guess myself and equivocate leads.to almost a paralysis in compiling lists like that.
