Crawford vs Postol. Who are you picking?

Post by Mr. Plainview »

Excited for this fight.

I think Postol takes the first few rounds as Crawford generally starts off slowly while he figures out Postal's range and style. Then I expect Crawford to settle into his rhythm and pull away in the second half of the fight. Good to see the two top fighters of their division fighting each other.

Who do you have your money on?

Great fight.

I think the safe pick is Crawford on points but i like Postol. Good chin, proper rough-house fighter on the inside but good reach and puncher from the outside too, he's going to give Crawford a lot of trouble. From a technical stand point we can see how good Crawford is in dealing with a mauling and messy opponent in his face, if he has the ability of a Ward/Floyd/Hopkins then he'll deal with Postol on the inside and maybe give him a bit of a schooling at range.

Personally though i think Crawford is a little overrated at this point, i wouldn't be surprised he struggles to deal with Postol and it gets a bit too hot for him in there.

I like Crawford.. It will be a very tough fight.. Crawford had a more recent fight, is tougher, and a sharper hitter.. Postol will have been inactive for almost 10 months though he's a very strong competitor and won't give up.

Excellent fight, Crawford the favourite and does the better looking work but this his biggest test at 140 by some way. I'll take Crawford 116-112.

I really don't rate Postol that highly.

His win over Matthysse was due to a shambolic performance by Lucas mostly due to his eye injury. He also looked seriously unmotivated for the fight.
I rate Crawford especially at 140. I see him figuring Postol out and getting a late stoppage.

Good fight though. Genuine #1 and #2 in the division.

I believe Crawford is the real deal..
I feel he will fight more cautiously and go on to a wide UD.
This will be a defining moment in Crawfords career

Crawford hands down. If not late stoppage then a wide margin on the cards. Guy is the business :TU:

Yeah, I'm a huge Crawford fan, but he does tend to start off slowly, which I believe will make it a somewhat "close" fight on the cards before Crawford settles in and pulls away. Definitely his biggest test so far.

The on night weights could be very important, Crawford looked big last time out.
Postol can box well when he wants to and shouldn't be underestimated.

Probably when he stopped Matthysse? Maybe one of his early fights, but the Matthysse win is most definitely his career defining win at the moment.

Normally I'd pick Postol, but his long period of inactivity may be a factor. And Crawford is younger.

Postol was left inactive by Top Rank after a superb performance in his fight with Matthysse.

The judges will favor Crawford, so Postol will need a KO to win. I hope we'll have an honest ref , not someone like Lawrence Cole or Jack Reiss.

Crawford goes switch-hitter and outboxes Postol for a competitive but clearcut decision!! :box:

Agreed! A convincing win could make Bud a legit consideration for top P4P fighter since the top P4Pers are not what they used to be!!

It would be hard for me to pick against Crawford. Postol's win over Matthysse seems to give some a reason to believe he is somewhat unbeatable, but think Matthysse chose to be stopped because of his eye. Still a great win for Postol, and I expect a very competitive fight with Crawford winning a close decision or even a late fight stoppage win.

I thought Matthysse had started to turn things back in his favour just before the stoppage. Wasn't that an eye problem? can't remember.

Anyway, Crawford will win clear.

Yes. In Matthysse's words he felt something pop behind his eye.

I'd favour Matthysse if they ever fought again.

I think that people are sleeping on this kid Postol and he could really wreck the night for some people in this one I think. Kudos to Crawford for taking on such a tough fight. I would have advised him against it if I were managing him but i'm glad it's happening.

Postol is one of the most improved boxers in the world over the last 2 years. He was never known for his power but he found it and it's changed everything. I was VERY surprised to see that Postol knocked out Aydin because he's got a granite chin. I thought that maybe it was just a bad night for Aydin. Then he made Matthysse tap out and basically quit on his knee. Yeah, the eye bothered him and he says that he wanted to avoid permanent issues but the man was beaten mentally and physically prior to that and had no answer for him.

With the above factor in mind, I then think about Crawford's carelessness during extended exchanges in his fights. He loves to scrap and he wants to win every exchange and sometimes sticks around for a few seconds too long and catches unnecessary shots. Crawford can't afford to fight that kind of fight with this guy. Postol has a 4" reach advantage as well and it seems like Crawfords always had the reach advantage in his recent fights.

This fight is much tougher and more evenly matched than most think. I am hoping that TC can keep it rolling because I enjoy his style but it's going to be the toughest fight of his career IMO.

I think Postol wins. I have said it from the moment this fight was confirmed that the jab is the key to this fight. If Postol concentrates on dictating the fight with his jab he will win.

I'm rooting for Victor Postol who is a very good fighter, but he's up against it here.

Crawford is also a good fighter, about equal to Postol. But the difference is that Crawford has home country advantage. The promoter of both (Arum) will be wanting him to win, so we'll likely see a referee like Jack Reiss who will be on Crawford's side. And if it goes to the scorecards, the judges will favor Crawford too.

Another factor may be the long layoff for Postol. Arum showed he values Crawford more by getting him a fight during that time.

So even though it's a close matchup, I think Crawford will win, probably by decision.

Of course you are. Unfortunately for you and other euro lovers, Crawford will win this fight clearly.
