I heard that Ward was looking at opponents like Shabransky and Cleverly. No way he will want his chin tested by Stevenson before the Kovalev fight.

I think Ward would outbox and decision Stevenson at this point. If this fight were proposed say around 2013 I might have predicted otherwise.

Stevenson has bigger fish to fry, like Thomas 'Oh No I've Got A Little Cut!" Williams.

Ward would box rings around Stevenson and probably stop him in the process. Can't see this fight happening though, not when he's due to be fighting Kovalev.

Kovalev is the man to beat at 175lbs. Adonis has avoided that ass kicking for years, that says enough about him right there. Ward would have a much harder time with Kov than Stevenson.

I'd be shocked if Stevenson fought Ward. Andre Ward would own him pretty easy

He probably would, but would Ward want to take a risk before Kova fight.

Probably not with a big puncher like Stevenson, but it doesn't matter Stevenson wouldn't fight Ward.

One good thing from this possible fight is if/when Ward wins, he can head into the fight with Kovalev with a World title.

There are rumours saying Ward may not even fight til November now, which I think won't be the case. I rekon he should fight Fonfara.

The longer he waits, the higher are chances that we would have to drag a SMW to 175, as real LHWs will not be able to cut weight in time.

That would be laughable if it were true. But this is what I suspected may happen all along. Ward steps in front of Kovalev and takes his mandatory challenger Sullivan... Then Ward steps in front of Kovalev again and picks up the Lineal LHW Title that Kovalev has been chasing for years... All in his FIRST 2 fights at Light Heavyweight... It's a joke, but it shows Ward is much better connected than Kovalev.

It's like Leo Santa Cruz fighting as a Featherweight on the Mayweather-Pacquiao card, but won't fight Lomachenko who's fighting on the same card.. Then Santa Cruz fights Mares... than Kiko Martinez... then Carl Frampton... All while Lomachenko can't find a decent opponent and finally moves on to 130 in frustration... Now Gary Russell is the best Featherweight, but he can't get a Santa Cruz or Selby fight either and he has the same "advisor." He's reduced to fighting Patrick Hyland. This is what I HATE about Boxing these days.

Ward could of made it look easy and boring and just boxed for 12 rounds but he wanted to bring fans excitement and actually faught sillivan its a good way to shake off all the rust and to excite the fans

Stevenson is 38, so he would fight anybody for a really good money. The problem is that Ward doesn't bring any decent money.

The only money fight at Light Heavyweight for Stevenson is Kovalev, and he doesn't want to fight him. So there's really no money fights out there for Stevenson that he's willing to take.

Stevenson would take the fight I believe. He'll be 39 in September and he's never had a big payday. Ward is not a big puncher so it's a much lessor risk than Kovalev. It also allows Ward to step in front of Kovalev a 2nd time. Stevenson knows he could very easily lose. He knows it will make Ward the so-called Lineal Light Heavyweight Champion, which will put Ward in a stronger position v Kovalev. Stevenson hates Kovalev like Khan hates Brook. Khan was willing to suffer an almost certain KO loss to Canelo... for less money... rather than give Brook the satisfaction of beating him.

If Stevenson takes the fight props to him. I'll be glad to see Ward beat him and rid the division of Chickenson.

Barrera had fought pretty much no one and has never been a big draw, which is why he's fought almost exclusively on minor bills. I don't think Ward-Barrera happening instead of Kovalev-Barrera was any sort of problem for Sergey.
