FLOYD WANTS TO GRAB HIS 50TH - NOT VS A BOXER!!!
FLOYD WANTS TO GRAB HIS 50TH - NOT VS A BOXER!!!
Conor McGregor spends 6 hours a day practicing Muay Thai knees, kicks, elbows, back fists, hammer fists… Wrestling moves, throws, and ground maneuvers… Street Fighting ground and pound techniques… Jiu Jitsu attacks and submission holds of infinite variety… Sleeper and Choke-Out Holds… and he spends about 30 minutes working on Boxing technique, with sparring partners and trainers of dubious quality, because the best ones are teaching real boxers…and he uses MMA striking gloves which are very tiny and COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than boxing with Boxing Gloves of Floyd Mayweather’s choice—which happen to be customized for FLOYD and have an extra generous amount of padding over the knuckles.
And Floyd is talking about this fight making hundreds of millions of dollars???? … Dana White is an intelligent business man… He DOESN’T want to damage MMA’s brand by having a top MMA star fight a skilled boxer where ALL the rules favor the boxer scoring an easy victory…
Conor McGregor would do this for the money… I have no doubt that McGregor thinks he can win… He’s a big puncher with MMA gloves and ALL world class fighters think they can beat ANYBODY and shock the world… He believes with 3 or 4 months of intense preparation and adapting his standup skills to Boxing he can do something shocking.. He’ll hire Freddie Roach or John David Jackson who will say “Conor is an amazing athlete. He surprises me every day. I never once thought I’d ever say this—but Conor is going to shock the world.” It’ll be all part of the buildup… the hype… the ballyhoo… the 15 city tour… the stare downs and shoving matches… and then the MASSIVE let down on Fight Night when McGregor displays the skills of a 4-round boxer.
Let me ask you a question… With 3 or 4 months to train would Floyd would face McGregor in an MMA fight??? NOOoooo—because he knows the MMA game takes years to learn and he doesn’t need the money… What would YOU do for a guaranteed 100 million dollars if you don’t have a 10th that much money … You'd do lot of things. Dana White should say, "I'll allow this mega-fight to happen if they fight with MMA gloves and Boxing rules... That still gives Mayweather a 95% advantage because Conor can't use 95% of the stand up strikes he knows. They're illegal in a Boxing match"

Damn it do we really gotta discuss this rumor ad nauseum on Boxing forums? THIS FIGHT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN PEOPLE!
Re: FLOYD WANTS TO GRAB HIS 50TH - NOT VS A BOXER!!!
never happen unless 3 rounds all in, why would floyd risk that. khan said he wanted to fight connor, why not pretty boy v khan in the cage all in
Re: FLOYD WANTS TO GRAB HIS 50TH - NOT VS A BOXER!!!
Floyd in "ON RECORD" in interviews saying "Absolutely...I think this fight WILL happen"... McGregor could buy his way out of his MMA contract for 10MM and still make 90 million... When there's this much money involved people get motivated... This isn't Couture-Toney... This is BIG!!!gilgamesh wrote:Damn it do we really gotta discuss this rumor ad nauseum on Boxing forums? Like I said.. Dana White should say “I’ll allow this mega-fight to happen if they fight with MMA gloves and Boxing rules… That still gives Mayweather a 95% advantage because he can’t use 95% of the stand up strikes he knows because they’re illegal in a Boxing match”
But FIRST to get that concession I would offer… “Let’s have some fairness… Don’t allow MMA throws, wrestling holds, throw downs, take downs, ground and pound, submission holds, sleeper holds, and choke-out holds… BUT let's allow all the MMA strikes: back fists, hammer fists, elbows, knees, foot and shin kicks etc.” … After a month of getting nowhere with those demands make an enormous concession and say… “Okay… okay Floyd...only Boxing strikes but with MMA Gloves” … See if Floyd goes for that..
Re: FLOYD WANTS TO GRAB HIS 50TH - NOT VS A BOXER!!!
McGregor ain't gonna make 90 Million for this fight. He could buy himself out of his UFC contract I guess, but there's not 90 Million in this for Conor if there's 100 Million for Floyd which Floyd says he demands.
I don't see how this fight can be made with all the hurdles in it, and I don't think it would do nearly as well as people think either. Especially McGregor coming off a loss in his most recent fight.
Fights only gonna take place if it's 100% on Floyd's terms so if Dana demands MMA gloves, fights off, and Dana isn't going to allow this to take place completely on Floyd's terms because then one of the biggest stars in the UFC is gonna end up losing a one sided fight, and the UFC has always tried their best to look superior to Boxing by having fights that favor the MMA guys. I don't expect that formula to change.

No way will Dana allow McGregor to be embarrassed in the ring. And most fans would not shell out the money for it.
It's a crap fight. Floyd would embarrass him in tge boxing ring.
Or McGregor would kill Floyd in the octagon.
It's apples and oranges

It will never happen but, they should fight first 6 rounds under boxing rules. Next 5 under MMA rules. Either Floyd wins by early KO or he's screwed.
Re: FLOYD WANTS TO GRAB HIS 50TH - NOT VS A BOXER!!!
McGregor called out Floyd and challenged him to a fight after Floyd made comments about racism still existing in boxing. If he wants a fight, a boxing match, he will regret it. No way Floyd does MMA in any kind of way. He got a taste of that fighting Maidana, and didn't like it. Anyway, criticize Floyd all you want, but he didn't start this BS. If he can make money with it, he will. McGregor has even a bigger mouth and ego than Mayweather....crazy.

Dana wouldn't allow this under any terms. After he let toney talk him into fighting he said never again for a circus kind of fight. And he wouldn't let conor buy out his contract for 90 million. The stuff about the UFC trying to look superior to boxing is bullshit. Dana loves boxing. It just sucks now.gilgamesh wrote:McGregor ain't gonna make 90 Million for this fight. it is outright stupid, stupid, stupid to
believe that either man can match the
other on the other's terms. do we ask
for soccer players to compete in basket
ball?
this idiotic topic and all its future alikes
should be banned from the internet. or
at least from this forum. i propose a
similar handling as was the successful
treatment of allegedly. still works like
a charm.

Who cares?
Floyd's 49-0 is way more impressive than Marciano's. It doesn't matter.

Yeah I don't really see how this could be argued. Marciano was a way more fun, action fighter to watch, but Floyd's resume is really pretty amazing whether people want to give him credit for it or not.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Who cares?

did not carefully manage whom he fought

better than rocky's.

This fight is a scam Duran would have destroyed Conor in any form of fight he wanted.
Re: FLOYD WANTS TO GRAB HIS 50TH - NOT VS A BOXER!!!
I love this fight. I think that it would be a blast from the months of lead up yapping by both guys and for however many rounds it lasts. Floyd obviously wins the fight easily but I think it would be a fun night and will generate a ton of money. Floyd is just being a genius again and i don't see how you all don't see it.
If Floyd comes back and fights the winner of Porter vs. Thurman, do you think that fight would generate anything even close to what a Conor/Floyd fight would bring? Not even close. Floyd knows that this fight would grab his normal portion of Boxing fans but would also accumulate the PPV buys from all these UFC fans that throw money at the UFC monthly PPV cards. He doubles the size of his pond of buyers by doing this. What about Conor? UFC doesn't publish payments to it's fighters but everyone smarter than me point to the fact that their fighters make crap. White keeps them hungry and takes the majority of the proceeds. Conor's been quite vocal about his displeasure with what he's been brining in for money and what's he's not being paid for. Conor would make at least 20-30 million from this fight which is probably a low estimate considering he'll probably get credit for the UFC portion of the PPV buys. Biggest payday of his life and guess what? No pressure because no one expects that he wins that fight. But what if he lasts 12? Or has a moment in the fight or two? Legend.
There's bound to be a big crossover fight between high end UFC fighter and Boxer so why not pair up the two sports top stars while they can. I hate Floyd but this is such a genius move that I really don't think he's as dumb as i thought he was.

The most I'll pay is $10 for PPV to watch this fight and that's ONLY if it has a good under card.
I ain't paying anything over $10 for a foregone conclusion.

No, he wouldn't. in a boxing match of course, but in MMA - he'd have gotten his butt kicked, just like any boxer would in MMA without extensive training.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:This fight is a scam Duran would have destroyed Conor in any form of fight he wanted.

Its a street fight Duran would have killed him on the street in the ring or any shape cage you liked

In a set of rules that favoured McGregor, obviously McGregor is going to kick Duran's arse, only an imbecile would think otherwise.

Yes, you'd probably have to say that's true. Marciano was in a very weak era, his best wins were over guys who were all at the end of their careers, Charles, Walcott and Louis.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Who cares?

He was one hell of a fighter nonetheless, about as tough a man as ever entered the boxing ring.
