I'd like to see Haye vs Wilder if the Povetkin fight doesn't go ahead.davie wrote:Did the same people who spiked Big Daddy Brown try the same trick and accidentally drug the wrong fighter?
Seriously though. This is poo, seriously poo!
The one good opponent Wilder has taken on and it falls on it's ass. How long before Wilder faces a live threat now. What does the WBC do about his mandatory if it doesn't go ahead?
2 Bermane Stiverne
3. Kubrat Pulev
4. Johann Duhaupas
5. Carlos Takam
6. Joseph Parker
7. Andy Ruiz
8. David Haye
9. Bryant Jennings
10. Malik Scott
11. Artur Szpilka
12. Eric Molina
13. Dereck Chisora
14. Ruslan Chagaev
15. Dominic Breazeale

Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?

I think Haye will go down that route now. The reason he wouldn't have before is because if Povetkin won no way would he come over here due to money.Verdi wrote:I'd like to see Haye vs Wilder if the Povetkin fight doesn't go ahead.davie wrote:Did the same people who spiked Big Daddy Brown try the same trick and accidentally drug the wrong fighter?

In fact Haye v Duhaupas is a good and doable fight next to get high in those rankings.
Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
If that's the way he want's to go, he'd be as well taking on Stiverne. I reckon Haye stops Bermane quit confidently and it would do ok either side of the Atlantic I reckonNaandrew wrote:I think Haye will go down that route now. Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
biggest heavy weight fight since fury v klitschko, and they say fury is a disgrace to boxing . how many drug tests has the big man failed none
Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
According to Large Dan he has just tweeted the following
Povetkin was negative in VADA tests on 4/7, 4/8, 4/11. Positive on 4/27. Story that substance in system was from 2015 before ban is fantasy.
May be completely wrong but if that's true there is not a chance in hell that Wilder carries on with the fight and again if it's true you can't blame him.
Personal point of view disappointed the fight may well be cancelled but the above if true looks damming.

Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
Has anyone heard any updates on this? Has it been pulled? I wonder if the card will still go ahead if the main fight goes tits up? I was really looking forward to this so I'm gutted at the prospect of it being cancelled but I wouldn't blame Wilder at all. Got to feel for the guy. Seemed very confident in the build up.
Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
Can't Wilder just take most of Povetkin's purse and then the fight can go on?

That's crazy talk, Horse.Horse wrote:Can't Wilder just take most of Povetkin's purse and then the fight can go on?
It would only serve to encourage more drug taking in future.
Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
Wilder due to fly tomorrow so would expect something in next 24 hours. If Large Dans tweet is true it has to be off.

Wilder will get a huge paycheck and he may well get the biggest win of his career as well.
Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
If Browne's positive test made no sense then this doesn't either. Deciding to take an illegal substance right in the middle of a bunch of tests just before the fight.GlobalBox wrote:According to Large Dan he has just tweeted the following

Well much like Browne, Povetkin will have to eat the consequences.

No guarantee he'll win and if he doesn't then he's got a ready made excuse on standby. Stinks to the high heavens and I wouldn't blame the guy for telling Povetkin to piss off.Horse wrote:Who cares?keirw wrote:That's crazy talk, Horse.

Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
Having read a bit about meldonium it really doesn't seem to offer a big enough performance gain to make the risk of taking it worthwhile. At least not since it's been banned. Still if it's banned and in his system, he's responsible.lefty wrote:As someone else mentioned, he probably fucked up micro-dosing.Taki... wrote:If Browne's positive test made no sense then this doesn't either. Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
A week to go.
Is this fight going ahead?
Is this fight going ahead?
Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
Not necessarily. Trace amounts of chemicals can not always be detected. In urine test even things like amount of water drunk can affect the concentration of chemicals. If its under the legal limit then it should be OK, I dont think previous test results matter.GlobalBox wrote: Povetkin was negative in VADA tests on 4/7, 4/8, 4/11. Positive on 4/27. Re: Povetkin fails pre fight drug test?
Don't forget Lebedev v Ramirez on the card in acruiserweight unification hope that fight isn't off too.
Then again is Lebedev on stuff .........

Hopefully it still goes ahead? Has the Wilder fight been pulled for definite then? Lebedev should give Ramirez a pasting.Naandrew wrote:Don't forget Lebedev v Ramirez on the card in acruiserweight unification hope that fight isn't off too.

I'm convinced that these people are using small doses of Meldonium to mask use of other substances.lefty wrote:As someone else mentioned, he probably fucked up micro-dosing.Taki... wrote:If Browne's positive test made no sense then this doesn't either.
