Lebedev vs Victor Emilio Ramirez

Post by diddy »

I have approx 4K coming back if Lebedev wins on Sat. Should I hedge on VER at +600 or not even bother? Can't see him getting a decision in Ruskieland.

Thoughts? Hedge or let it roll?

Is that even happening if Povetkin fight is cancelled ?

I'm pretty sure. It's a substantial fight on its own.

4k from a -1000 line, what the hell else did you hit on that parlay??

I would hedge to get 2K back if Ramirez somehow wins, so like $300-400 as an insurance policy.

VER is +700 now. At time of parlay Lebedev was -550.

I'm gonna do 300 on Vic to get back 2100 even tho I'm fairly sure its pissing 300 away.

Yup, better than to go home empty handed. Don't give the books the opportunity to pull the rug from you while you are still ahead, especially since the line has moved significantly requiring you less to hedge.

If we are being honest with ourselves, Lebedev isnt losing that fight in Russia. His only loss was a split in Germany to Huck. Jones also beat him but got busted for roids. Consider this - Jones was well on his way to losing that fight on the cards despite giving Lebedev a beating. THAT is how badly VER will have to beat Lebedev to actually win. Considering VER got a very questionable draw at home in Argentina in his last fight against a mediocre opponent in Ovill McKenzie it doesnt speak well to his chances of winning in Russia against a superior boxer. The only win of note for VER was a close win in Argentina against a fading Ola Afolabi in a fight where Ola was docked a couple pts and most felt was ahead. In short, I dont give VER much of a chance at all of getting a decision in Russia. I dont think he's good enough to win the number of rounds he'll have to win to get a decision there.

Lebedev is underrated. He took a beating off of Jones because Jones was probably weighing about 220/225 on the night because he was using diuretics. He looked huge compared to Lebedev.

And Lebedev was actually very competitive in that fight; Jones was eating flush shots in several rounds and I doubt many, if any, other CWs would've been able to do the same yet still come out on top. I think the gruesome appearance of Lebedev's eye has caused some people to remember the fight as lopsided when it wasn't at all.

Agreed. However, I'm sure we've seen more bizarre outcomes watching this sport over the years. Are you betting on Wilder vs Povetkin, if so what is the play?

I'm torn between burning that $300 on a hedge or throwing that $300 on a Nyquist-Exaggerator exacta in the Preakness. Knowing me I'll probably do the latter instead as I'm incredibly greedy even tho in circumstances such as this I hedge 98% of the time - just in case. I just don't see a path to logical victory for VER here in Russia. He will need to KO Lebedev and that seems really unlikely.

Looking at next weekends card you have 4 fights with basically the same odds.

Lebedev
Lara
Jermell Charlo
Kudrayshov

All roughly -1100. The only one I can realistically see losing is Lara since he's the one not fighting in his backyard and the one fighting the livest opponent. Lebedev is obviously in Russia. Charlo is from Houston. Kudrayshov's chin could perhaps betray him again but I expect him to wash this Brazilian in the first couple rds. I doubt Dos Santos has the punch resistance that Duradola has displayed. You better have a CHIN and a lot of resiliency against the bombs Kudrayshov throws. I doubt they'd have put Kudra in a loseable fight in his first fight back off that shocking upset. If you're looking for a huge dog in his group - look at the Lara fight and hope the Lara that judges hate shows up.

Ramirez couldn't beat a 25-12 Ovill McKenzie.
Why would anyone even consider taking bets on this fight.

Your right people get so caught up on the odds. Just because a guy an underdog doesn't mean you have to em. Most times their underdogs for a reason.

No one thinks the guy is going to win. It's a only being discussed because of the circumstances of having $4000 coming back if his opponent wins - and how prudent it is to minimize the risks associated with that.

Yeah I remember it being a competitive fight. I do wonder now though whether Lebedev is also taking this meldonium.

Well considering that all his fights occurred before it was banned he would've never been dirty for using it.

If he is currently on it he better do a better job of masking than Povetkin did.

The chances or RUSADA catching a Russian fighter taking anything are almost slim and none. There's a reason VADA seems to be the only ones catching anyone....unless of course a road fighter comes into town and upsets the apple cart.

To be fair Ovill McKenzie is a lot better than his record suggests.

I still fair Lebedev in a wide points win though.

You're dreaming.

If anyone gets stopped, it's Lebedev.

I've never seen someone put a beating on Afolabi like Ramirez did. I would hedge it for sure, seeing the odds have moved.

If Ramirez comes to win instead of a paycheck (which is perfectly possible), it's anybody's fight.
