Disappointing. Should Sacha be put before a firing squad?

Funny how we've had 3 different positive tests in recent weeks.

Francisco Vargas- Well..it's Mexican beef, poor Franc has just eaten tainted food, lets not bother punishing the guy or anything!
Lucas Browne-Look...it's probably someone who's tainted his sample in Russia, those dodgy bastards will do anything to keep that title!
Alexander Povetkin-Cheat! Cheat! Cheat!

Interesting Povetkin's drug is one that appears to have been rushed on to the banned substances list before WADA had done their full research [http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/36034369] and it's unclear how long positive tests will come out from the athletes who have stopped taking it.

It's worth noting that Caffeine, along with Nicotine, has now been added to a watch list [http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/35764312], it seems almost like WADA don't have a clue about what their doing and recently allowed more asthma medications to be used without a TUE [http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014 ... yclist-eid - " Now, any athlete can use common bronchio-dilating inhalers like salbuthamol so long as they do not exceed a certain dose"], which almost seems like they have legalised one form of cheating whilst stopping another.

I'm not defending Povetkin, Browne, Vargas or others, but I would like to see WADA completely reassess how they do things. It seems that things aren't as "black and white" as some would suggest. It would also be interesting to see how many false positives, how long chemicals are in the body and some consistency applied.

Just legalise all drugs and then no one is cheating.

Problem solved.

Not really, as those with more money would get the more effective drugs.

Those with the most money get the best advantages.

That's life.

fornicate that
I want to see fighters given bionic implants capable of punching through brick walls and Adamantium infused into their bones.
But only as long as both fighter could have it, otherwise it's hardly fair

Of course. But the problem is how to make boxing a more level playing field, and legalising all drugs in sport doesn't help achieve this.

Imagine telling a clean athlete that if they want to compete they have to risk their physical and mental health by taking PEDs. Legalising drugs punishes clean athletes. Not acceptable. Authorities need to make the punishments so harsh that only a tiny minority would even consider risking it.

A lot of them have very detrimental health effects. It doesn't look good for the sport, and won't encourage people to join, if half the stars are dying of heart attacks or strokes or liver failure aged 40 caused largely by PEDs. That why sports ban them.

Well much like Browne, Povetkin will have to eat the consequences.
As someone else mentioned, he probably fucked up micro-dosing.
I'm convinced that these people are using small doses of Meldonium to mask use of other substances.
I've not seen it mentioned that it's a masking agent.
From what I've read it might boost stamina. And WADA have no idea how long traces of the drug can stay in the system.
Whatever happens it's yet another nail in the coffin of the sport.

Postponed only, apparently. The big lump is lucky to be still getting a title shot after this major f**** up.
He must have thought no more tests after the April batch....dumb ass peckerwood.

Seems they are going ahead with the card, featuring various generic world titles on there...but looks like BN have pulled out and are showing the American card with trout & co and another three generic world titles instead.

Ah right, so Lou Dibella must have bribed WADA to fail Povetkin and at the same time lose his fighter $4 million for a 50-50 fight. Plus paid off the WBC too. It's clearly a massive conspiracy

Wilder found another excuse to avoid/delay the fight by saying there was found a banned substance in Povetkins body. That's actually correct, but it was obvious that this was the result of the fact that it allways used to be allowed and remains in your body for a very very long time. Also note that there has never been proven that it has a positive effect at all and next to that Povetkin only has a few nanograms of it left in his body, you"ll probably have to google to find out how many 0's there show up before you find a number at all. Look at weed for example, I don't mind if Wilder smokes some, but according to the rules it isn't allowed. Maldonium can be compared with an aspirin in America.
