Why retract or apologize if he threw the fight??? As he was counted out he shaded his eyes from the sun with his forearm to make it obvious. Johnson claimed that the fight was scheduled for 45 rounds because he was promised numerous documents paving his way back into the United States after being a fugitive from justice for many years. He couldn't come back as the Heavyweight Champ. His wife needed time to receive and review the documents to make sure they were all in order. At the end of the 25th round she took her seat and gave him the signal. Johnson took a right and faked a KO in the 26th round. Willard was a pig. He didn't defend the title for 4 years and didn't respect the sport of Boxing. When he finally defended against Dempsey his training was horrible. Now it's claimed that he defended the title once in 4 years vs Frank Moran, but for many years that fight was represented as an exhibition and no scorecards were rendered. For me his only defense was against Dempsey and he looked pretty ridiculous to say the least.

Plainly Caractacus and Kalan are both the same person, the racist formerly known as Il Duce.

Their entire raison d'etre is to try and traduce black boxers in any way they can.

Laughable and pathetic little man. Or, possibly, men. If there is more than one of them, that's sad.

Because unlike Cleveland Williams, who has been done to death over the years, Ali has barely been discussed.

Are you capable of opening your mouth without saying something demonstrably stupid?

It's bollacks from Johnson. If you watch his documentary, Unforgivable Blackness its clear Willard badly hurt him the round before the knockout.

Leave it up to Johnson to say the fix was in. He said the Ketchel match was fixed too, possibly to mitigate his embarrassment of being floored by the much smaller man and conveniently came up with the story after Ketchel's death

I'm not sure the Ketchel fight was entirely on the level. It looks like Johnson was carrying him for a while. Early in the fight, (round three if I remember correctly) you can see Johnson hurt Ketchel and Johnson literally grabs Ketchel and holds him so that Ketchel doesn't go down.

The other thing that seems suspicious is what Johnson happens after he gets knocked down. He is clearly angry, and immediately knocks Ketchel out. Hard to believe that he could not have done that much sooner had he wanted to.

That accusation was aimed at Caractacus/Il Duce. If you are not him, then it doesn't apply. From what I have seen from posts by Kalan, you are just a fool, not a racist. I am still not sure you are not the same person, though I am not as convinced as I was.

"Raison d'etre" is a borrowing from French that has been an accepted term in English for at least 100 years. Every time you speak, you expose your ignorance. It's wonderful.

Hey Barbarian – great video –

The opening footage of Willard showing-off his hand speed and footwork is laugh out loud funny; I don't think that can be corrected; although the medicine ball makes him look intimidating, even at the wrong speed.

The film announcer called Willard the “Kansas Giant” (not the Pottawatomie Giant); wonder when this video was made? – He also claimed it was 103 degrees; I remember you debunking this, right?

I love seeing the gloves up-close; not much protection for hand or face.

They had more than one camera working; on one side there is the grandstand, the small crowd on the other side of the ring must have been the ‘on the track seats’ - the good/expensive seats; a ‘better sort people.’ ;-)

The uncut 26th round was interesting – at first Johnson looks OK, strong enough, (he throws only one punch though,) but then he and Willard begin pushing each other around the ring for a few long seconds, and when the ref finally breaks them, Johnson steps back and his shoulders slump and he wobbles slightly; he suddenly looks beaten. Willard then stalks and the KO follows. Johnson’s exhaustion seemed to come all at once; as if the final clinch sapped his last ounce of energy; having Willard lean on you for 26 rounds, in the sun . . . exhausting!

Again, great video – thank you!
