Lightening striking twice?
Lightening striking twice?
I'm not one usually for celebrity gossip, but I couldn't help but think how Wlad's wife mental health might have impacted on Wlad's training and performance before the first fight with Fury.
If you remember she checked herself into rehab for post natal depression about a month before the fight.
Just been reading the same thing has happened this time, 6 weeks before the fight, she is in rehab for post natal depression.
It's got to play on Wlad's mind a bit.

It's postpartum, and it's a serious illness.stujones wrote:I'm not one usually for celebrity gossip, but I couldn't help but think how Wlad's wife mental health might have impacted on Wlad's training and performance before the first fight with Fury.

Yes, sorry if my post made it sound like I was making a mockery of it..... Not my intention at all. Very serious and I do wish her all the best.mickey1975 wrote:It's postpartum, and it's a serious illness.stujones wrote:I'm not one usually for celebrity gossip, but I couldn't help but think how Wlad's wife mental health might have impacted on Wlad's training and performance before the first fight with Fury.

My point was I do think this was a major issue in the first contest, but Wlad being Wlad didn't make any excuses and will this be a factor this time around.

I saw a programme on it. Nobody can train with that about them. It sends the patient crazy. Literally.

In that case it's a good thing she's not the one fighting Fury.mickey1975 wrote:I saw a programme on it. Nobody can train with that about them. It sends the patient crazy. Literally.

Anyway, back on subject - I thought the same thing when I saw this in the news. She said it's affected every area of her life. Can't be easy on Wlad who seems like a sensitive modern day kind of chap.
However, he's experienced it before & it may make him more determined this time around.

Re: Lightening striking twice?
I thought he showed he could compartmentalise and get on with his job as his dad was on his deathbed in the run up to the Haye fight and died about 10 days after it.
However you never know things can affect someone differently at different times so I don't think anyone can guess whether this affected things for the first Fury fight or will for the next one.

Re: Lightening striking twice?
I am sure many of us here have experience of being close to someone with a mental illness of some sort and can relate to this and must be wondering how the hell he can keep his mind on track. Even with the ability to compartmentalise, I do not think you can get away without it affecting you. It must have an affect or you would not be human.
I am dealing with a similar but not the same issue with my daughter and I have not slept in two bloody months. The anxiety, stress, worry, fear, anger, frustration is impossible to put to one side.

Re: Lightening striking twice?
Feel for you mate. I have two daughters but they are young girls so I'm lucky at the moment! I actually suffer from bad depression and anxiety. I have to take meds every day or I'll just go off course. It's a hard thing to deal with. I've always said I'd rather have a moderate cancer because then I could cut it out! You can probably tell just from my posts on here. Sometimes I'm manic and fine other days I really struggle!tobyh5 wrote:I am sure many of us here have experience of being close to someone with a mental illness of some sort and can relate to this and must be wondering how the hell he can keep his mind on track. Just need to grin, bare and get on with it!

Fight might get delayed like the first one
Re: Lightening striking twice?
Is this only the second time she has gone into rehab? - and both just before her husband fights?stujones wrote:I'm not one usually for celebrity gossip, but I couldn't help but think how Wlad's wife mental health might have impacted on Wlad's training and performance before the first fight with Fury.

This would be a difficult situation to cope with at the best of times, but if Wlad going away to camp and fighting is possibly having a negative effect on the mental health of his wife and mother of his child then that could affect his own preparation.
Re: Lightening striking twice?
I guess this might help explain the delay of the rematch.

Post partem is just the american name for post natal.
Post partem depression and post partem psycosis are different things, but if its post natal psycosis thats a whole other level to regular depression.
Thats not me belittleing depression btw, ive been there myself in the past.

My wife had post-natal depression with each of our three kids, and it is a living nightmare. Wlad and his good lady have my sincere empathy at the moment, particularly with the type of character Tyson is and the stuff he says in the media (which I'm certain he means absolutely no malice by, but that's not how they'll perceive it).
Re: Lightening striking twice?
I think in a cruel way this plays into Tysons hands big time. they also have a kid together so their child must be with someone other than their parents most of the time if she is away and Wlad is in training, that cannot help.
I think I now know who my money may be on as this will definitley hinder Wlad...

Re: Lightening striking twice?
Wlad hasn't looked right for ages. He seems really distant. I thought this may have happened again and he still didn't seem right in the interviews he's been doing. The Fury's know it too. Peter even made a comment about Wlad not being their mentally.
He usually has the greatest entrances I've ever seen before the ring walk. I remember saying to my brother as Wlad came out to fight Fury without a 5 minute entrance something was definitely up and he was going to lose.
I think the fight is going to be a identical to the first one.

I don't really like to talk about someone's personal life like this, but I can understand it if it affects Wladimir's boxing carreer in a negative way.
I hope he gets what he deserves.

Re: Lightening striking twice?
When the rematch was eventually made I thought it would come down to where Fury's head was.
Would he be as dedicated in training? Would he approach the contest with same level of 'fear' that would keep him on his game, or would he have spent too long partying and living the lifestyle of a heavyweight champion of the world?
If he was on point I figured I could only see the same result as the first contest as, although I'd had Wlad as favourite going into that fight, it was clear that every time Wlad attempted to step it up he was unable to.
I can't see what Klitschko can do differently this time around other than turn it into a brawl and, with his whiskers, that may not end well.
If there are other things going on outside the ring then I'd suggest it will be even harder for him this time around, especially as the away fighter he may struggle if it goes to points given most of the crowd will be supporting the champion.
