Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
GGG has been campaigning at MW his whole career, whereas Alvarez started at LWW. Therefore I would go GGG.
Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
..I'd say fight night weight is critical, that's the weight they feel comfortable with...so I guess it's a draw...
Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
Alvarez also started at 15....obviously more room for growth than someone who turned pro at 24.Batley18 wrote:GGG has been campaigning at MW his whole career, whereas Alvarez started at LWW. Therefore I would go GGG.
Current sizes (esp. fight night weights) are far more relevant.

They are pretty much the same size. Canelo's "I'm not a true MW" line is ridiculous.

Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
Canelo is slightly bigger, nothing of note. The whole weight he campaigns at is because it's a lot easier to drain tons of weight when you're younger. I think GGG was 163 at the 30 day weigh in for his last fight. Canelo was probably 170(or whatever the maximum amount is).

... and there is no way Canelo drains without using forbidden substances, but nobody is demanding to strip and disqualify him.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Canelo is slightly bigger, nothing of note. Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
Surely GGG is bigger if he could make 155 he would be fighting at that weight canelo is the draw
Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
They're the same size give or take a few pounds.
Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
..of course, converted into nanograms the difference will be more obvious... ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Do you not suspect that lots of the bigger drainers are using diuretics or whatever to get down there?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:runner_phob wrote:... and there is no way Canelo drains without using forbidden substances, but nobody is demanding to strip and disqualify him.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Canelo is slightly bigger, nothing of note. I suspect virtually all pro athletes have done something along the way.Counter-puncher wrote:Do you not suspect that lots of the bigger drainers are using diuretics or whatever to get down there?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:runner_phob wrote:

Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
The weight cut is predominantly the week of the fight so they'd need undetectable stuff. Plenty of that around.
Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
The water diet, Thai fighters use it, strips massive amounts of weight off and replenishes very quickly

Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
I've lost 12 or 13 pounds in 24 hours for Wrestling. It sucked, but I was a teenager. Canelo doesn't have too much longer to do this. Really makes no sense, I think his shitty stamina would improve at 160. It gets tricky from there. When he starts to gain natural weight in another 4 or 5 years, he won't be as imposing at 168 & 175.
Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
I don't think he'll ever bother trying his luck at 175. I can see him going to 168 one of these days, I don't expect he'll get to 175 and if he does he'll lose to any significant opponent there I figure. He'd be pretty damn short for the Light Heavyweight divisionSaadOffTheDeck wrote:I've lost 12 or 13 pounds in 24 hours for Wrestling. It sucked, but I was a teenager. Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
I don't believe any of the measurements put out there on Canelo size and reach. 5'9" my ass. Khan's 5'8" and he clearly looked taller than Canelo in the ring and out. I'd say at most, Canelo is 5'7" but he's no way 5'9". My point is that people see that the two guys have similar body types and torso thickness but they forget that GGG is almost 5'11"'s.
When the two touch gloves, I guarantee the topic of discussion for commentators will be the surprising height difference. I mentioned it on another post yesterday which is annoying to duplicate, i know, but when GGG congratulated Canelo in the ring after the Khan win, GGG had to lean down to whisper in his ear his congratulations. This is a factor in this fight. There are some significant advantages to being the taller man. Some disadvantages as well but not as many.
People are so concerned about what the scale says that they don't even notice the height difference.

Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
At the weight you've got to say GGG is stronger due to the fact Canelo still hasn't fought as a genuine 160 pound fighter.
Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
GGG is probably around the same height/size as Angulo.caldo2025 wrote:I don't believe any of the measurements put out there on Canelo size and reach. 5'9" my ass. Cintron is taller than GGG so the height difference has been there for Canelo before.

What does it have to do with a height ? Khurtsidze is 5'4" and is successfully beating much taller guys. So was Tyson.caldo2025 wrote:I don't believe any of the measurements put out there on Canelo size and reach. 5'9" my ass. Khan's 5'8" and he clearly looked taller than Canelo in the ring and out. Re: GGG vs Canelo - who is bigger
If they weigh in at 160 Canelo would come a bit heavier on the fight night. For all intents and purposes they are same size.

Canelo offered Sanchez to come touch his ballz, so maybe something of his is bigger
