Andrew Selby Wins brit flyweight title in 5th fight
Did anyone see the Selby Louis Norman fight last weekend. I read Selby won by shut out over 12 in only his 5th pro outing, but did he look decent doing so? What next for arguably the more talented of the two brothers?

He looked amazing, put on a show. Kept coming forward played to the crowd, a real superstar in there. I'm still mesmerised by his performance.
Re: Andrew Selby Wins brit flyweight title in 5th fight
I think he knew Norman couldn't hurt so took too many shots for my liking playing up to the crowd. Does look a special talent though.
Re: Andrew Selby Wins brit flyweight title in 5th fight
Was an enjoyable fight. Norman played his part. Selby looks a class act and to do the full 12 the way he did in only his 5th fight was pretty impressive.

He's got future star written all over him, but needs to balance the confidence with a bit of realism - don't want to get into the habit of being so cocksure against better men, there's a long way to go yet, but he looks supremely talented, sit down on those punches a bit too, he was a bit Amir Khan at times with those rapid fire flurries.

Absolutely sensational.
Some of the best footwork I've ever seen live.
He's tall for the weight aswell. Could be a fighter who will move through the weights.
I reckon he could end up as high as feather.

Well done Andrew, not taking anything away from Selby but check out Charlie Magrie's record.

Sensational talent. Was a joy being there watching it. Andrew is going all the way.
Re: Andrew Selby Wins brit flyweight title in 5th fight
Domestically the flyweight division is so poor that winning the British title in just a few fights isn't particularly impressive, whether the achievement came in someone's third or fifth fight.ppb wrote:Well done Andrew, not taking anything away from Selby but check out Charlie Magrie's record.
Is Louis Norman even top 200 worldwide? Was Dave Smith?

Charlie Magri won the British flyweight title in his 3rd fight and at only 21.crusader wrote:Domestically the flyweight division is so poor that winning the British title in just a few fights isn't particularly impressive, whether the achievement came in someone's third or fifth fight.ppb wrote:Well done Andrew, not taking anything away from Selby but check out Charlie Magrie's record.

He didn't look that good.
He lost quite a few rounds.
Needs work.

I don't care what the judges say.Realistic wrote:Which rounds? The scoring judges didn't seem to think so
He lost plenty of rounds. He didn't look anything special in that fight.

We don't care what you say; you have no clout in anything you do; tell us which rounds he lost and we can watch them on youtube. Back up what you say or sit down and shut up.Horse wrote:I don't care what the judges say.Realistic wrote:Which rounds? The scoring judges didn't seem to think so

Plenty of people in the audience watching it live We're up on their feet cheering in appreciation. And pundits like Carl Frampton thought he was a special talent & world class ... but hey. What do they know.
I'll just take your word for it - NOT!

Most posters are not here to simply regurgitate what television pundits have said.
Most rounds of the fight were competitive. I'd expect Selby to be dominating a fight like this in order to get the high level of praise that he has received from some people.

Think you're being overly grumpy here Horse.
Are you really going to tell me you couldn't at least see some potential there in Selby?

He won the British title in his 5th fight. That alone suggests that he's got potential.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Think you're being overly grumpy here Horse.

Ignoring his lack of pro experience, it being his first 12 rounder and it being a significant step up in class though; I didn't think the performance itself merited a great deal of praise.

Still no evidence of rounds lost provided eeyore......
