Re: Canelo drops the belt
Now Canelo can negotiate weight and purse split without a deadline and the purse bid prospective. On the other hand, Golovkin can now say "f u" and go fight Jacobs and BJS.

Those others fights are nothing compared to fighting Alvarez.runner_phob wrote:Now Canelo can negotiate weight and purse split without a deadline and the purse bid prospective. On the other hand, Golovkin can now say "f u" and go fight Jacobs and BJS.
Re: Canelo drops the belt
My God! Could Oscar make Canelo look any more of a bitch? I'm embarrassed for him.
Will an announcement follow that Canelo will only face Welterweights because he is the star and he makes the rules or are we expected to believe that GBP are willing to give up the belt just so they can try to negotiate a Caneloweight non-title fight?

Re: Canelo drops the belt
So is GGG the WBC champ now?
Re: Canelo drops the belt
But GGG still wants The Ring belt. Won't GGG have to fight someone to get the WBC belt?

Re: Canelo drops the belt
So now Canelo's superfights against Paulie Mallignaggi at 155 lbs and Cristian Mijares at 154 ½ lbs can finally be made. I'm excited!

Re: Canelo drops the belt
There is nothing "official" in GB, DLH, Canelo or WBC twitter accounts. I think Glovkin will be a full champion next Tuesday.crusader wrote:So is GGG the WBC champ now?

Rafael just tweeted:
Per @wbcmoro, @GGGBoxing has been elevated to the WBC's full middleweight champion with Canelo vacating. #boxing

Canelo just has money. BJS has the only belt Golovkin is missing. Jacobs is his mandatory, so that fight has to happen unless Jacobs gets "injured".Horse wrote:Those others fights are nothing compared to fighting Alvarez.runner_phob wrote:Now Canelo can negotiate weight and purse split without a deadline and the purse bid prospective. Re: Canelo drops the belt
The lineal titles at 160 and 175 are no more credible than the ABC belts.
Lineal = no obligations, allow fighters to duck as they please

After Golovkin gets the 4th belt, he will start a new lineage.crusader wrote:The lineal titles at 160 and 175 are no more credible than the ABC belts.

Re: Canelo drops the belt
They would both be very competitive against Canelo. There is a reason why he doesn't fight middleweights.Horse wrote:They are nothing compared to Alvarez.runner_phob wrote:Canelo just has money. If you are speaking about a "name", then f*ck the name. People are tired of those cherry picking divas like Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto and Canelo.
Re: Canelo drops the belt
So what do all the Canelo nuthuggers have to say now? Your boy is a proven coward with this move. He'll never live this down.

Re: Canelo drops the belt
don't get how this helps canelo negotiate anything. handing over the belt takes one major incentive
away for ggg to agree to catch weights and bad splits. ggg is not going to need to chase anybody
with all 4 belts and the saunders fight is now for all 4 titles. at that point all 160 will need to form
a line for a crack at the unified champ and all 154 and 168 that can make 160 and want a big fight
will have to step in that line. every fight becomes a superfight. ggg will be bigger than canelo soon.
canelo will never hear the end of this, either. everywhere he goes, from media and boxers and fans,
he will never hear the end of this.

He doesn't need anything else. Canelo just gave up the Lineal Title to GGG in my eyes.sucracristo wrote:don't get how this helps canelo negotiate anything. handing over the belt takes one major incentive

Re: Canelo drops the belt
Cotto and Khan, 2 small shopworn guys that brought good paydays, then gives up his title instead of facing the real challenge. Dios Mio Canelo
Re: Canelo drops the belt
The only way he'll hear the end of it is if he fights GGG. Other than that he'll forever be a ducker. No matter who he fights he avoided the very best, and he'll never live it down. I'm sure several Mexican fans will turn their backs on him for this. Especially after his comments following the Khan fight. He says in no uncertain words that "We don't f*ck around"..."I'll put the gloves on and fight him right"..."We have no problem fighting him at 160"sucracristo wrote:don't get how this helps canelo negotiate anything. handing over the belt takes one major incentive

Then all we hear in the next few weeks is "Well what about a catchweight above 155" and "Well f*ck it I'll drop the belt"
He's a chickensh*t. That's all there is to it.

Re: Canelo drops the belt
in order for canelo to be allowed to fight for the wbc title last two fights (and cotto before him),
he signed 2 contracts agreeing GGG is next. if GGG is not next, canelo will never hear the end
of it whatever excuse he makes. even if he goes back to 154, no matter who he fights, he will be
asked about nothing but GGG all day every day, from everybody. he won't be able to go out in
public forever without being asked about it. even if people try to ease up to it by starting the
conversation talking about the weather or whatnot, he will know the question is coming. canelo
could still have some big fights after this, but there will always be this wet blanket over them.

Re: Canelo drops the belt
So to translate it basically means, we will offer the fight to GGG at 154lbs with no title at stake, for a ridiculous purse split, he'll say FU and we can make some other fights with smaller guys. #mexicanwarrior.runner_phob wrote:Steve Kim @steveucnlive 18m18 minutes ago Santa Monica, CA

Re: Canelo drops the belt
just went onto twitter and saw saunders calling canello a shit bag. that isn't
going to help negotiations if canelo decides to make a lateral move for the wbo
and stay at 160. we all know saunders would prefer canelo to fighting ggg.
just as much (if not more) money with a better chance at being competitive.
i still think canelo is going back down to 154 for andrade or cotto or charlos.
