wladimir is old, a wrestler and becomes totaly insecure and panics when punched. he is no elite boxer, certainly not now.
fury is unathletic as hell, out of shape and says everyday how he disliks boxing and all he wants to do is retiring.
povetkin was, is and always will be a b level heavyweight (b means good, a means very good, a + means phenomenal), i never understood people giving him a chance over wilder, when he struggled against huck and lost like every round against the wrestler.
now, lets talk about a level heavyweights, right now, we have 3 and these 3 should face each other, all 3 are athletic, technicle, power punchers, doesnt get any better than josh, wilder and ortiz
dont tell me you wouldnt watch wilder-joshua or ortiz-joshua, these are far ebtter fights than x leg fury vs old wrestler or drug cheat vs anybody

Yeah there should be nothing keeping the best fights from happening at Heavyweight.

With the Wilder Povetkin fight not happening, the boxing world now turns it's eyes to here in New Zealand where Joseph Parker takes on Carlos Takam. This is it guys as far as deluxe goes for me cos it's going to be awhile for the next "juicy" heavyweight clash which is Fury Klitschko 2 and it's hard to look forward to that one considering how boring theit last fight was, I did enjoy Tysons boxing in some of those rounds though.
May 21st 7pm NZT.

why not wilder-parker. parker will win, it wont be easy, cause takam is solid, but parker should tko him.

In another year the heavyweight matchups we will be talking about will involve combinations of Wilder-Joshua-Hughie-Parker. . . .these will be the new fab four and a new golden era of heavyweights.

No I'm afraid Hughie Fury is way down the bottom somewhere. He also has health issues his camp does wish Parkers camp well though. Winner of Parker Takam fights Joshua.actjac wrote:In another year the heavyweight matchups we will be talking about will involve combinations of Wilder-Joshua-Hughie-Parker. . . .these will be the new fab four and a new golden era of heavyweights.

Re: Isn't the door now open for the real deluxe heavyweight fights?
There are no definite A level heavyweights right now. Joshua, Parker and Ortiz may be, but they need to prove it at the highest level. Wilder is pretty much a confirmed B level heavyweight to me. Fury is the rightful champion, therefore any fight involving him is, to me, the most important and the most intriguing. I actually enjoyed the Wlad-Fury fight, despite Wlad's dismal performance, I think it was largely Fury's tactics and awkwardness that made him look bad.
Like everyone else, I'm really disappointed that Wilder-Povetkin isn't happening. For me it was a real 50:50 fight, although I gave Povetkin the slight edge.

....not if they never happen.
Re: Isn't the door now open for the real deluxe heavyweight fights?
Yeah, Joshua and Ortiz have shown themselves to be better than Fury and Wlad

ya need deluxe heavyweights first, this lot are all as good/bad as each other so should get some 50/50 fights out of them, as far as deluxe fights go think we will be waiting a while
Re: Isn't the door now open for the real deluxe heavyweight fights?
From what little of Ortiz I've seen, I don't think he's fast enough on his feet to trouble Fury anyway

"all 3 are athletic"
Ortiz spread his weight from 220 - 240 lbs in pro...
Ortiz had the boxing skills to say "ok a little bit more on the scale...but who cares?"
His fightrecord till today shows, he make it right. But he must take care of his weight.
Wilder, Joshua are athletic body types.
It*s a lucky thing when Nature gives you athletic-genetic. But boxing ist no Bodybuilding, it's a Fightsport....Arreola shows good fights when everbody laughs while his trunks had extrasize and he looks he had never see a gymn from inside.
Klitschko the next athletic guy...i think he will retire soon..but Ortiz vs. Wilder or Joshua will be great.
Ortiz is 37...clock is ticking.

Perhaps this is just semantics, but I sure considered Wilder/Povetkin to be a "real deluxe heavyweight fight".
