Has there been a fighter that has lost two great bouts of that magnitude in my lifetime? I don't know. It's hard to think of one.
suppose hatton did against the #1 and #2 p4p guys
Ricky Hatton's performances against the greats Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr don't come close to what The Original Hitman did. Tommy was on the brink of winning both fights. Hatton? Wasn't even close.

Hearns vs Hagler and Leonard I were for all the marbles. A huge and anticipated fight. It's 3 levels higher at least of Hatton vs Pac/Floyd

Bruno against witherspoon, Bruno was doing quite well until the end came. Bruno did quite in all of his challenges, better than when he was champion infact.

Dennis Andries in his third fight with Jeff Harding. Was so brutal that I was watching through my fingers, and was gutted for Dennis that he didn't get at least a draw.

Bruno against Lennox deserves a shout. Frank could have won that one, but got over cocky.

He got caught with the only left hook Lennox ever threw.

That's true.

You have to wonder why Lewis never used that punch more?

First one I thought of too.

Cotto vs Margarito was similar.

The best losing performance I remember was outgunned Kelvin Seabrooks taking Orlando Canizales life and death in dropping his IBF belt to him. He just refused to quit over and over again and kept pulling even each time Canizales tried to finish him off.
