Povetkin passed ALL of his tests. These were piss tests. If you know ANYTHING about piss tests, depending on how hydrated you are, i.e. how clear or yellow you urinate for the piss tests gives you a variety of readings.. Sometimes they may want you to take a piss test after you've worked out extremely hard and before you gulp down a quart of water. You still can because you only need to pee a small amount for a sample. Because he has such a negligible trace about of Meldonium in his system if he's well hydrated it's not going to show up at all.. This is what happened for his so-called inconsistency. He still tested WAY below the allowable concentrations when he was a little dehydrated so he's good.
The fights off so he's obviously not 'good' is he? If he passed them all why is the fight off? I don't know much about drug testing to be honest and have never claimed to but the facts are that the fight is off, Wilder has lost out on a lot of money (he's not the only one) and Povetkin has tested positive for a banned substance. Something isn't right is it?

I know meldonium can take months in some cases to leave your system but Povetkin and his team knew last September that this substance was going on the banned list so why the hell would you continue to take it if he's clean? I'd like to think it's a mix up as I like the guy as a fighter but I find PED usage in our sport abhorrent and anyone proven beyond doubt to be cheating should be banned for life. This will go some way to putting an end to this kind of cheating. The sport is dangerous enough.

In any case they were told last September that the substance was going on the banned list so why take the risk and continue taking it? If you read the Wada file you can see that Povetkin was allowed to have 15ug/ml in his body when Wilder challenged him in januari, now Povetkin isn't a cheater, so he doesn't care, now he got 0.070ug/ml left in his body around april and now Wilder and his team say to all the media Povetkin is a drugs cheat... Yea right.
So you're saying he isn't a cheat? He failed a test in April? He knew the substance was being banned away last September 15. Why should Wilder take the risk and fight a guy who's clearly been on something? Wilder is the one losing out on a career best pay day.
He didn't fail a test in april... You only read the titles of some bullshit Wilder and his team are saying, but if you actually watch the facts you would have known ages ago that every test turned out to be negative. Meanwhile for some odd reason, we haven't seen any negative test at all from Wilder.

But it was WBC who announced that Povetkin failed a drug test per VADA.

It's obvious that Wilder is clean since only Povetkin is caught with a PED in his system.

As far as I know the WBC was only planning to check out if Wilders accusations actually made any sense at all. As a reaction on this Povetkin and his team are planning to sue Wilder and his team. Sadly, most Americans don't understand Russian, so think it's actually true what the American media writes down, under controll of Wilder his team.

We are all waiting for the test results and investigation from WBC. But WBC did have a press release regarding Pov's failed drug test:

WBC heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder and mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin voluntarily agreed to the WBC Clean Boxing Program and to be tested by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) in connection with their upcoming May 21 WBC world heavyweight championship. Today, VADA reported to the WBC and the fighters’ camps the results of an anti-doping test Povetkin underwent from a sample collected on April 27. VADA’s report states that Povetkin’s sample A showed an adverse result for the banned substance Meldonium. The WBC also received specific information from the World Anti-Doping Agency about such substance Meldonium, which was added to the banned list this year. The substance is classified by WADA as a metabolic modulator. Tennis star Maria Sharapova was suspended after Meldonium was found in her system.

The WBC is conducting an in-depth investigation of this matter and will make a public announcement in the very near future concerning the results of its investigation and any appropriate steps that it will take.

If anything, Wilder and his team has a stronger case against Povetkin and should be compensated. It's Povetkin's fault after all that the fight fell off :verysad:

Are you for real? WADA and the WBC have both released statements saying he's failed a test. It isn't an accusation from Wilder it was WADA who administered the tests. They were chosen by Povetkins promoter Ryaninsky.

As you can see, Povetkin has nothing to fear, he doesn't have 15ug/ml in his body, but 0.070ug/ml which is very normal for someone who has used this in 2015.

No, that's nearly impossible, perhaps if he kissed a girl who used it, it's 0.070ug/ml how on earth do you want to get such a low amount?
Oh yea, if you still got the absolute minimum left in your body from 2015 or so, but otherwise this is pretty much impossible.

I've no idea, all I do know is that all the tests on Povetkin are negative, and that it's very unlikely that Povetkin came in contact with this stuff after 2016, that's why these numbers make perfect sense.
Meanwhile, I've never seen any testresults at all on Wilder's side, like he never had a test at all, despite he all of a sudden gained some pounds and even seemed out of shape. It's like he allready knew for a few months that this fight would never happen on 21 may anyway and like he can pass all tests without even doing them at all.

Problem is that 070ug/ml figure came from Ryabinki's mouth. Still no word from VADA or WBC about the exact amount Povetkin has in his system.

I'm not taking the word of Povetkins promoter.
I want to know from a reputable source the amounts of the supposed drug.

People who are defending him are doing so without all of tge information

Kalan wrote:Povetkin had concentrations of Meldonium that well below the concentrations allowed for Meldonium, consistent for an athlete who stopped taking Meldonium before it went on the banned list. Povetkin took the drug last year when it was perfectly legal. When he got word it was going on the banned list he stopped taking it. This is nothing new. When a new substance is added to the banned list there are always allowable traces of the drug in athletes' blood for some time. This is all about the WBC, VADA, and the whole corrupt Boxing apparatus sensationalizing a non-violation.

Promoter Ryabinskiy “Povetkin didn’t fail a doping test. He has 15 times lower meldonium concentration than the limit established by WADA. Now we need to pass additional tests, then we will set a new date of the fight and do it." The World Boxing Council will be the one that will decide whether the Povetkin vs. Wilder fight will be allowed to be rescheduled or not. Their last official word is the Wilder-Povetkin fight is postponed until further notice until they complete their investigation. If the WBC backs Ryabinskiy in what he says the levels being too low for it to be considered a positive test for meldonium, then we should see the WBC rescheduling the fight in the near future. Ryabinskiy is prepared to take legal action if he must to get Povetkin his WBC mandated title shot against the 30-year-old Wilder.

“If we don’t come to an agreement about the fight with Wilder’s team, we are ready to meet them in court,” said Ryabinskiy. “The fight is not cancelled but postponed, we are discussing a new date. There are no legal barriers for the fight. The official Wilder-Povetkin fight status is ‘postponed.’ All claims against Povetkin are legally unsound.”

Just why this happened is a mystery. The postponement should not have happened. If a test falls within legal parameters the fight goes forward. I would sue for defamation at this point because there was no legal reason for the fight postponement and some people are recklessly spreading lies.
Then how did he take previous test and it didn't show up in his system?

Both WADA and WBC have stated that he tested positive. WBC postponed the fight as a consequence to do an investigation. Links have already been posted in this thread with that information.

Would you mind posting a link to a neutral organization that corroborates your story? It would be much more effective than simply calling people idiots for not believing what you are saying.

Yes, Povetkin tested positive, but the concentration was very low. The problem is that Povetkin had 3 negative tests earlier in April which (if all results are accurate) allows to make a conclusion that he took meldonium in April.

To be honest, that statement didn't actually say he failed, it said " an adverse result" if he failed why would they be having an investigation, there is no data to show how long it lingers in your system, maybe the tests he passed were urine tests and this one was a blood test, who knows

You're the one that comes across as an idiot I'm afraid. You're coming out with all these 'facts' but no source. I have read official statements from both WADA and the WBC saying that Povetkin HAS failed a drugs test. If you have an other source other than that of the word of Povetkins promoter (who stands to lose a few quid with the cancellation) then I'd be interested to read it. I can only go by what I have read and the fact it the fight is off. Do you have some other explanation as to why the fight is off? Maybe Wilder didn't want the 4.5 million he was being paid?

Now you're calling me a drug cheat? I'm just a man on a boxing forum that you don't know from Adam. You seem confused. Perhaps you should stick to black and white facts and try to avoid veering off course with fabricated, unfounded 'facts'. Until you give me a credible source then all I can do assume you're talking complete and utter guff. Good day to you.

The drug testing crap is now totally politicized and run by a crooked outfit in Las Vegas and it is destroying what little is left of the boxing carny racket. All athletes play the angles and try to do what they need to do to win, including kids in school who have dreams of becoming famous. Some have better medical advisers and druggists and live in more favorable countries than others, that's all. Legalize the stuff, because it doesn't make much difference anyway. Same goes for the other sports...like taking some dumb assed drug is going to make you into a world class bike racer like Lance Armstrong. Same goes for boxing. Armstrong overcame cancer and then they destroyed his career...
